Mini Challenge at Princess Bookie: Collections

As I was blog stalking...errr looking at blogs I came across this post Collections and figured I'd do it because heaven forbid I've been known to collect things. 

When I was younger I use to love collecting My Little Ponies. (not the ones that are made today those are ugly compared to what I use to have.) My cousins and I would always play with them. We'd make families, and it was awesome. You'd have the big regular size ones, the baby ponies, and then the minis. So I went to look up some pictures, and I actually found some that I use to have.

I absolutely adored those for the longest time, and now that I think about it I'm not sure why I got rid of them. It's kind of sad. 

Then when the Beanie Baby craze started I collected those. I mean I literally had 100's of them I actually still have quite a bit of them in totes, and my most favorite ones I have sitting on my bookshelves. My dachshund and my cat ones.

Then I moved on to leopard stuff. Anything cat/leopard/tiger I bought. purses, gadgets, bed spread, and more. I was crazy about that print for some reason.

At this point in time I don't have any one thing. (Unless you count my books) I've noticed I like hanging up posters more and more.

So that's pretty much what I collect or collected at one point. (OH, did I mention I collect the state quarters. I don't know why.)

What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your favorite character?
Okay, this is just ridiculous. I think from here on out I just won't read the question and answer Vampire academy. :) It seems to work everytime. i don't really have a set cast in mind I would just be super freakin, fan-girly excited to see it be a movie (even though it might be ruined) I'm totally still game. A few others I think my make for an interesting movie are Enclave by Ann Aguirre, The Gallagher Girl Series by Ally Carter. What's not to love about spies? I know there are probably more, but I can't think.

MY THOUGHTS:
(I'm so freaking speechless right now. I've been wanting to read this book since before it came out in April, and I was able to chat with the author on her FB, and I even got to do an interview over the phone back in April. (My notes are in my document files somewhere. I'm not very organized.) So I totally had high expectations for the book, and let me tell you I was not disappointed with it. I'm going to say this as calmly as I can I want DARIO. Move over Dimitri. No, I would never leave my Russian Guardian, but I now have a new Vegas Mobster. YEA! Okay, so maybe I'm not so speechless. LOL.  I just had to get it out of my system.)

It's weird because I can not for the life of me remember how I came about the book and the author. I feel like a complete idiot. Anyways,you know when you read a book that's set in a specific place it sometimes makes you want to go there. Well this is no exception. I've been to 4 states (Cali, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Texas) in my 25 years (I've been through others, never to visit.) This one is primarily set in Las Vegas which I'm soooo wanting to visit now. Thanks Pam.

When Taylor and her family move to Las Vegas for her dads new job she a little skeptical, but then she literally runs into the boy of her dreams at the hotel her family is staying in. How can that be? They're just dreams right? Nope, they're so much more, and we get to go along for the ride to see just what those dreams and this mysterious guy mean.

I was very fond of all the characters. I loved Taylor. She may have been a little whiny at first, but she soon got over it when she realized how awesome Vegas was. I loved how at first she kept to herself, and she didn't bother with her family (in the plane scenes) then she slowly grew to liking them, and eventually enjoyed her younger sisters company. It's always nice to see families getting along. I enjoyed the new friends that the girls made to because the new friends could have easily been these snotty-spoiled rich girls, but they weren't they even went over and introduced themselves. I think there was one "mean girl" in the whole book. Which of course I wanted to hit. I like when people can just get along. Dario was an awesome guy lead character he was struggling to be him self and be what his family (mostly dad) wanted him to be.Sometimes that's not an easy thing to do. In the end you have to do what makes you happy so yeah. :) I liked one of his friends because he seemed cool with whatever Dario told him, but Mateo was a little bit of an ass. I guess in the mob scene you kind of have to be though. I'm sooo curious about who this other guy is who shows up at the club, and who this woman is that started popping up . So needless to say I'm very much in suspense.

I loved being able to see what they were thinking to each other, and their time together had me on an emotional rollercoaster. I was laughing, upset, everything. I wanted them to be together.

What an ending to...why...why...why. You guys if you haven't heard of the book before now I suggest you go and look it up. (It's has a giveaway going on at goodreads to. :) ) I mean VEGAS, THE MOB, SOULMATES (the concept may seem overdone but I found it so intriguing I actual went and looked it up on google. No joke.)  -still can't get over loving it-

So I'm pretty sure this review is long enough, and I know I had a hard time writing it. It always seems like the more I like a book the harder it is to say exactly why. :)

Why did I pick this one?

Well the past couple of WoWs I've done they've had a bit of  paranormal to them. Which I guess in a way this one does to, but look no special powers, vampires, werewolves. So I thought I'd try for something a little different. I haven't read to many ghost like stories (although I have quite a few on my shelf.) The synopsis drew me in, and I adore the cover it looks like she floating over a bridge, or maybe it's the pearly gates behind her. (only they're not so pearly looking)

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I want to re-read

This is Top Ten Tuesday hosted at The Broke and the Bookish.

1. The Vampire Academy Books- I know, I know I've read them multiple times already. Actually I think I've re-read the first 4 quite a few time, but 5 and 6 I've read only once. -gasp- What's wrong with me?
2. Bloodlines- I just read when it came out, yet I would love to read it again. Maybe come closer to time for the second book.
3. Evernight and Stargazer- The first two books in the Evernight series because I recently just got the last two books, and I read the first two back when they first came out in 2008 so I've kind of forgotten what happened, and I need a refresher for the last two.
4. Shiver- Pretty much the same reason as above. I just got linger and forever, and need a bit of a refresher as to what the story is like. 2009 was awhile back. I can't remember what happened a few days ago much less 2 years ago.  
5. Nevermore- I absolutely loved the book, and it's characters. Plus, the second one is coming out is it next year or 2013?
6. Harry Potter- Yeah, I know it's one that will be on every list just about, but honestly I'm not sure if I've ever re-read these or not, but it would be nice to step back into Hogwarts for awhile.
7. Radiance- I see a pattern here. Most the books I want to re-read either have all the books out, and I'm just now getting them or I need to finish the series up. I have Shimmer, and Dreamland I'll be getting soon. So now is the perfect time to re-read Radiance since it's such a small book. :)
8. Vegas Dazzle- I actually just finished this one not to long ago. I'm still trying to figure out my review. Yeah it's taking me a bit. I absolutely loved it. I would re-read it just for Dario. :) The thing is I'm not sure many people know about this book. So I want to let people know it's out there. I'll actually have a giveaway sometime on here for a signed copy of it. Then I've thought about buying another copy, and doing some kind of blog tour. -shrugs- We shall see.
9. House of night books- I haven't read the latest one that's out (I have it though) I think for the fact that I'm not sure what's going on with the story, but I really did enjoy the first few books in this series before it became like a soap opera for books. So I wouldn't mind re-reading those first few.
10. The Deep end of the ocean- I read this one way before I started reading YA books, or actually enjoyed reading. I read it because a friend said it was good (and I watched the movie), and it was one of those books that kind of tugs at your heart. A little boy is kidnapped from his family and after 9 years (I think) is reunited with them when he's a teenager. Just the things the family goes through to finding him, and making him comfortable with a family he had forgotten. Really good.

Okay, I was super excited to be able to join in on one of Small's Review Comparison. What book you ask? Well it was Enclave by Ann Aguirre. It was probably one of the first Dystopian books that I actually enjoyed. I'm pretty excited for the second book to come out in 2012. Can't wait for more Fade!

Do you have a favorite series that you read over and over again? Tell us a bit about it and why you keep on revisiting it?

I don't know why I'm even going to answer this. Most of you know by now that anything relating to my favorite series I'll usually answer with...wait for it... wait for it...Vampire Academy. I think I've read it 4 or 5 times. Yeah, that sounds about right. That's before I had such a huge TBR pile though. Sometimes I do want to go back and just read the. You can never get enough Rose kicking butt, Dimitri just being swoony, and Adrians sarcastic attitude. Although, I just finished reading Vegas Dazzle, and I have to say I might just be re-reading this one a couple times now. :)

What's been going on here!
You probably noticed (or not) that a changed the way it looks a bit. I'm trying to decide if I like things Ion both sides or just one side. Oh, I'm gonna go see a movie Saturday, and my friend told me to pick out of Abduction w Taylor Lautner, Moneyball w/Brad Pitt, or Dolphin Tale which should I say I want to see?

So why am I waiting on this...
1.) I think I'm getting more anxious about this one because people have been getting it the past week or so, and I admit I think I'm a little jealous.

2.) It just sounds like something I would read. I love me some paranormal-ness to books.

3.) I admit it I love the cover. If I didn't know anything about the book I would still want it just because of the pretty-dressified cover, and the swirly smoke that has her all caught up. Oh, we can barely see her face. I'm just intrigued that's all there is to it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read But Me

This week the topic is Books I feel as though everyone has read but me.

1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver- I actually read half the book back in February when I had it on my computer, and not an actual copy. I now have an actual book so I'm not sure why I haven't read it. I see tons of reviews for it.
2. Across the Universe by Beth Revis- Again I have this book on my shelf, and have had it since it came out, but haven't gotten around to reading it. I think my conscience is telling me to wait for all the books in the series that way I don't have to wait on cliffs.
3. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins- Believe it or not I actually don't have a copy of this book yet. :( I do however have Lola and the boy next door. I was kinda wanting to read Anna first. -sigh-
4. Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer- I wanted this to hurry up come out so bad, and now that it has I have yet to even buy it. I think it's the new covers that are making me not want it. I hate them.
5. The Fallen Series by Lauren Kate- Yes, I haven't read any of them, and I have the 3 that are out. Perhaps I should just wait until Rapture comes out next year. (I think that's the last book)
6. City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare- I've read the first 3, but I'm a little hesitant to read this. I've heard mix things about it.
7. The BDB series by J.R Ward- So, now that I have all of them. Maybe I can read them, but they're so intimidating just the thickness of them.
8. The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab- I've read really good things about this. Not to mention I keep having dreams about it. Maybe, it's telling me I need to buy it.
9.  Any of the classics: Jane Eyre, P & P just any of them. I feel kind of bad not reading them.
10. So there are tons more that I can think of, but the last one that comes to mind is Divergent (and that's only because it's like staring at me from my bookshelf telling me I need to read it now. As I type this.)

Being a teenager is hard enough, and then to be thrust into being one of the four horseman of the Apocalypse is probably even harder.

Random: My Attention is focused elsewhere

My Weekly/monthly random babbling. :) You can totally skip if you want. It really isn't exciting.

Ya know I haven't done a random post in awhile. Actually, I haven't done a whole hell of lot of any posting lately (except for my usual IMM and Friday ones) I have quite a few reviews in process that I haven't finished. I've been reading on/off all week, but I will say that Vegas Dazzle has my full attention. I knew back in April when I read the first 2 chapters online that I would like it because it's my type, but I'm loving it. Once I finish it that means I can try and put up the interview I had with the author. (if I can find it in my mess of documents) I can also do the giveaway I keep saying I will do for it. Who wouldn't want a pretty signed copy? (I'm not sure about international though.)

MY THOUGHTS:
I don't know what it is with me, but it seems like most books it takes me a bit to get into them, and then when I do get to that spot (where ever that maybe) it's either smooth sailing or a bumpy roller coaster ride. I either end up really loving them, or being a little let down. So where exactly does that leave this one?

I enjoyed the twist on the angel story. It's not the same old fallen angel loves the human, can't leave them bit. Okay, so I've only read a few books that are like that, but you get where I'm going with this right? I mean there's only so much you can do with angels. How can you take something that's been done to death, and shed some new perspective...new light on it? (Pun totally intended) Well just like "A Need so Beautiful" has done. 

Charlotte is what someone would call A Forgotten. She's put on the Earth to spread love and the light to people who otherwise would have a dark ending to life. Problem is every time she "saves" someone she loses a part of herself, and at the rate with which the Needs are making her feel she just might be closer to the Light then she thinks. Little by little her family and friends are forgetting her, forgetting memories they once shared. So it's no wonder Charlotte would do whatever it takes to just stay whole. The Lady in black she keeps seeing could possibly help her, but at what cost? 

I liked the diversity of the characters in Charlotte's family. Her little brother made me laugh. I'm not sure how I feel about the relationship between Charlotte and her boyfriend though. I mean at times he seemed to genuinely care for her, but then he'd be all suspicious of what was going on. I mean if you care at all then trust her. Oh, and the doctor I wanted to hit him so many times. Just tell her what's going on she's got skin falling off her for crying out loud. Why beat around the bush just say this is what's happening. Easy right? I did feel a little bad for him though after learning who and what he is.

The ending...oh.my.god. I mean I know that this is a series, but I was thinking how can the author make this a series. I got my answer.  I can't wait to read the next book.

It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

Ya know I feel like I've answered this a billion times, and you would think after so many times that, maybe my answer would change, but to be honest it never does. I think I would like The Vampire Academy. Yes, I get if you have that world then you'll have the Strigoi, but you get awesome Guardians like Rose and Dimitri, and Eddie (I gotta give Eddie props because of Bloodlines). Not only them, but you have the Alchemist which I know they don't like the vampires or the Dhampirs because they're un-natural, but they have some pretty cool stuff.

MY THOUGHTS:
I'm trying to think of a zombie book that I've read, but I think this is probably my first. I did try The forest of hands and feet and never got around to finishing it. I feel bad about it. Maybe, I'll go back to it sometime.
OMG! I didn't think zombies could be so funny, but I laughed through a lot of this book.
Kate may have been a nerd above all nerds but she was a funny one. She had a comeback for pretty much everything. I think I about died out laughing when I read the whole foot fiasco. She wasn't your typical hot girl, or that girl everyone wanted to be. I actually enjoyed that part a heroine who is regular. Nothing special about her.

Aaron was the hot guy on the team that Kate kind of liked, but it wouldn't be YA without a little crush because let's face it. We all have crushes, and most of ours are fictional. He wasn't like Dimitri-Swoon-worthy (no one ever will be), and I wasn't all that thrilled with him to be honest he was just some guy.

Jonah was Kate's little brother I adored him and his part in the book trying to help Kate fight the fight with his fake sword, and getting his geeky friends in on it.
 
I was a little sad to see how it ended. I was hoping for some big breakthrough I guess I don't know. I think it could have been better, but who am I to judge right? I'm not a writer, and I know it must be hard. 

All in all it was a light-paced funny zombie book, and I'm not sure how many of those are out there. It's definitely a book that stands well on it's own, but like I said it has another book coming out next year. A new adventure awaits us with Kate, and I'm ready to see where that takes us. :)

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body.
Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

OMG! There are about a bazillion and one reasons I want this one.

1.) Have you read the synopsis? I think it was Ashley over at What's Your Story? that made this a must read and an I want it now type thing. Her IMM this week gushed about it. Thanks Ashley.

2.) I find that anything compared to X-Men I want to read. I don't know why. It's just something that captures my attention. Juliette definitely sounds like a Rogue type Character, and I adored Rogue.

3.) Are you seeing this beautiful cover? I mean really I know the whole dresses in YA thing is a little over the top, but I'm a total fan of this cover. If nothing else I want the cover.

4.) Not only is it paranormal-ish. It's also described as sort of a Dystopian, and I'm trying my darn-est to find some that I love.

Okay, so that was only four reasons, but I'm dead serious about this book. I want it.

Book Trailer and Giveaway: Dreamland by Alyson Noel

It's that time again for a book trailer followed by a giveaway.

It's Dreamland by Alyson Noel it's the third book in the Riley Bloom Series (the first two are Radiance and Shimmer) I've read Radiance and it was a small, but a good book. I have shimmer on my shelf which I need to read.

Dreamland synopsis:
Rileys finding that the afterlife can be a lonely place when all you do is focus on work. So she goes to the place where dreams happen, hoping to find a way to contact her sister, Ever. She meets the director, who tells her about the two ways to send dreams. As a Dream Jumper, a person can jump into a dreamers dream, share a message, and participate. As a Dreamweaver, an entire dream can be created in a studio and sent to the dreamer. But Dreamweaving was outlawed decades ago, and the studio was boarded up. Thinking its her only way to reach out to her sister, Riley goes in search of the old studio. There she finds a ghost boy, whos been creating and sending nightmares to people for years. In order to stop him and reach out to Ever, Riley is going to have to confront and overcome her own fears

Designing Sites and tips

I haven't written a review in a few days. Which I'll probably get around to doing either tomorrow or Wed when I'm off. I have this problem I'm not exactly sure what you would call it, but anyways it's something like this. Whenever I start a new project I'm kind of stuck on that for a few days. So the past couple of days I've been trying to re-design my other blogs I have which consist of my personal one, my writing one, and my old book blog. What does this have to do with anything you ask. Well, nothing actually I just thought I'd be nice and tell you why I haven't done much on here.

While I was doing my re-designs I found that I had fun trying to put them together make something different. Then I decided that i would turn my old book blog into a Design blog. Now I'm going to be straight with you. I'm very, VERY limited on the kind of designing I can do, but I would love to try and help anyone who has a question. I know for the longest time I wanted to learn drop down menus like I have above where it would drop down and I could go to a page then go to a sub-page, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how. I couldn't find a site that I could easily understand. I'm a little dense when it comes to the extreme HTML, but I know the basics. So when I found a site that explained sorta how to do it I gave it a try and it worked. I'm just now figuring out how to use pictures for top links (Example) I want to be able to help you. :)

Want to know what the sites look like with out going to them. The first one is my writing blog, the second is my personal blog, the third is my design blog, and the fourth is one I made out of boredom using a friends blog title. :)
