NaNoWriMo that sounds odd! What is it? An illness? An extinct bird? A made up word? In answer to all those questions. Nope, it is the abbreviation for National Novel Writing Month which begins in November and lasts all month long. It challenges you as a writer to write a 50,000 word count novel in one month. Crazy right? That's okay writers often thrive on crazy. (or so I've heard)
This is going to be my starting point post. If I'm lucky and I make myself write instead of well everything else I usually do I might actually have a story. I originally heard about NaNo last year before it began, and thought "Hey I'm always writing (or trying to write) stories, and they never get anywhere so maybe doing that would help. Well needless to say I failed completely I didn't even get 1000 words. I think it's because it was still sort of new, and I didn't have anyone to encourage me. This year will hopefully be different as I have a few people who I can turn to, and maybe as the month progresses others. I also decided to try again this year because I told Lan I would. Oh, I also want to be able to say I've written a story..no a book. It might not be any good, and it might not make any sense what so ever, but that's what going back over it and revising it is for. I just want this story to be real. Well real as in on screen and not in my head. This story line and these characters have been in my head and in my notebook for a verrrryyyy long time. They've changed as I've grown a fondness for weird character names, but the characters themselves haven't.

This is a complete and totally random post I realize, but I just thought I'd let those of you who follow me, and are participating in this know that I am as well so if you want to add me my user name is AngelicNytmare.
GOOD LUCK!
Woohoo! Peer pressure wins again. I just read your synopsis and excerpt on the NaNo website and think it's fantastic. You need to believe in yourself more. I have less than 4 hours off the official start time and have done zero plotting. Major stress.
ReplyDeleteYeah, thanks. That's pretty much the extent of what I have of the story unless you count the other 10 pages or so of handwritten stuff I did back a few years ago which is a lot of dialogue. I have what a day left and I'm back at work from 2pm until 10pm so pretty much 2 hours. -sigh-
ReplyDeleteWhat time is it now? Have you slept? I am having a semi meltdown over here. I get the feeling I'm going to get halfway and then have to stop.
ReplyDeleteRight now it's about 530am and I've been awake since about 1pm so my eyes are hurting, and I'll probably sleep til 1 or so when I finally go to bed. I'm watching season 4 of OneTreeHilll right now. A sleep habit I have to be watchin tv to fall asleep.
ReplyDeleteNO! don't say that you'll get through it missy. I have a feeling your better at the whole plotting and storyline thing then I am. SO I know you can! (If I don't answer I've fallen sleep)
LOL! Seriously we both need to get off the internet! You to sleep and me to plot. I think I may as well give up for tonight and try to figure out the plot points as I go along. Although I am completely stuck at one point which is why I haven't progressed. I'm still stuck on season 3 on OTH. Can't seem to work up the enthusiasm for more.
ReplyDeleteokay, yeah I need to go to bed now its almost 630am. So I will sleep and you will plot. Knowing my weird dreams I'll be plotting something in my sleep. I've had some crazy ones.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay I kinda watch them out of order so I know things that happen in later seasons cause i watched those w a friend. Onto bed now.
Yay, I'm starting today too! Writing the sequel to Dark Seeker this month. Haha, I have 500 words, only tens of thousands left to go. It's a good thing I love my characters so much. Good luck! I look forward to reading about your progress on your blog. Maybe we can cheer each other on. Best, Taryn :))
ReplyDeleteI'm working on trying to figure out what I'm writing still! OUTLINING IS SO HARD! But I need it or I know I won't be able to follow through!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! :)
