#BookBlogWriMo Day 2: How you read

HOW I READ!

Hi dear readers! Welcome to day 2 of the #BookBlogWriMo!

Today's topic is...You guessed it!

Day 2- How you read
Paperback?
Hardcover?
Ereader?
Smartphone? Bookmarks, Note taking in the margins, or highlighting?
Tell us some of your reading rituals!

I'm not a fickle reader when it comes to how I read. I mean I just want to read, and fall into the world I'm reading about. There are times when I prefer a regular book to say an E-reader because I've been staring at a screen to long, and after awhile it starts to give me a migraine and the little flashy lights start appearing in my vision. If I was rating how I read it would be...

1. Hardcover- I think with most readers the actual book in hand is preferred because we're a weird creature we like the feel of the book, we like to turn the pages, we like to smell the books. I'm not ashamed to admit when I walk into a bookstore there's this smell that calms me. I also chose HC first because I find that they are easier to keep up. Paperbacks tend to wear and tear a lot sooner because the spines aren't made well, and they bend easily. This is only an observation. ( My shiver and hunger games books ruined quickly because they were PB. I'm talking the pages were coming out.)
2.and 3. E-readers/Paperbacks- I bet you though PB would be next huh? It's really a toss-up between the two. Although I love the feel of real books, my kindle has a place in my heart. I can have so many books at my fingertips, and it's so much easier to carry. (I'll probably end up doing a discussion on real books vs kindle sometime)
4. and 5. Smartphone/computer- The last would be my phone and computer because staring to long hurts, back before I had my kindle I used my computer for Netgalley and S&S galleys when they did those. Now I use these two mainly for stories I read on Wattpad.

I love bookmarks. Plain and simple. I have oodles of them whether they are ones I bought, given to me as gifts, or swag I've gotten. What's sad about this is I rarely use them. I know failure. I use pieces of paper, or whatever I find lying around at the time.

I use to be all about note-taking, and writing down things I liked about the book I was reading, but it's hard to do when you read during odd times ( I'm talking about in a car while the husband is driving, at a friends house, bathtub.) Now I usually just keep a pencil with me and underline passages and quotes I like and write the page number in the back of the book.

There you have it!

  1. I prefer ebooks. I won't ever get anything read if its not e-book format because the hardcover or paperback are too challenging to carry around with me all the time.
