Question of the Week: The New Year is here -- and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

1. More Reviews- You know I was pretty good at it last year when I started and this year I feel like I've just fallen behind. I need to do the reviews as soon as a finish the book otherwise I forget.

2. Read more- I guess in order for more reviews I would have to read a little more. Again I did pretty good at the beginning of the year, and then I kinda slacked off. Maybe, it's just my life became a little hectic and I couldn't balance it. So I'm gonna try to do better in 2012.

3. Attend bookish events- I wanted to go to BEA so bad this past year, and I think if I would have planned ahead more i probably could have convinced my SIL to go with me, but I was a little to late. Although I did get to go to some fun things. I'm hoping to attend more TX events. Who knows maybe I can convince my darling Ryan to go with. :)

4. This isn't really a blogging one, but I need to actually try and write. I've been writing (or should I say messing around) with this story for god only knows how long, and I really want to get somewhere with it but I can't. I don't have the patience to sit for long and write. I've even thought about starting a site for aspiring authors (who are book bloggers as well) and seeing if that would help. I actually have the site made with a title and all, but it's sitting in my "maybe I'll work on this pile later."

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson - Reunion between former loves is one of my favorite tropes, so when you have summer at the beach and a rekindled first love, I’m there.

The Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen - This one sounds cute and flirty and right up my alley.

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin - Y’all, I love Edgar Allan Poe. So, when I first heard about this book, I knew I had to read it. Plus, the cover is beautiful.

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian - Since I read her Summer series, Jenny Han will be on my automatic buy list forever!

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick - I know I’m not supposed to pick a book based on the cover alone, but this one is just so cute and romantic I can’t help myself.

The Farm by Emily McKay - Vampires, that are scary. I so miss that. Plus, she’s another one of my writing partners so I know it’s going to be crazy good!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books of 2011

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the girls over at The Broke and the bookish.

Topic this week: Top 10 books of 2011.

1. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead- I will pretty much love anything set in the VA world. Although, I missed Rose and Dimitri a lot I enjoyed being able to learn more about Sydney and the Alchemist and Jill.

2. Divergent by Veronica Roth- I absolutely loved this book to pieces. I loved the setting and the whole shebang with this book. After I read Enclave I thought I should give Dystopians a shot. So far I have enjoyed every book I've read since. I can't wait to read Insurgent in 2012.

3. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake- I loved the story , the writing, the characters. Everything about it was awesome. I think I loved Anna's Character the most. Believe it or not I had chills while reading. then again that could have been because I was sitting in an empty parking lot at 12 midnight reading it.

4. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi- One of the more uniquely written books I've read this year. ( I loved it so much I got two copies. lol) No they were both gifts actually. I loved Juliette and Adam, and the whole Rogue like thing. :)

5. Where She Went by Gayle Forman- I loved reading If I Stay last year and this was no exception. I enjoyed reading things from Adams POV. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster with him. Reuniting with Mia and all.

6. Raw Blue by Kirsty Eagar- Beautifully written book. If you're able to get your hands on a copy. Then you should definitely read it. :) (I know this was an older one, but still loved it)

7. The Day before by Lisa Schroeder- Another beautifully written book and this one is in verse form and takes place over a 24 hour period. Brings to light the question what if you had just one day.

8. Enclave by Ann Aguirre- One of the first Dystopians books I read that I actually enjoyed. It was a little hard to enjoy a few of the characters just for some of the stuff they did, but Deuce and Fade were definitely characters I did like.

9. Vegas Dazzle by Pam Langsam- Mobs, special abilities, what's not to love. I actually have two copies of this one as well which I was going to use for a giveaway, but as of right now all my books are packed so whenever they get unpacked will see. :)

10. Starcrossed: Perigee by Tracey lee Campbell- I'm not much for the aliens, but I adored this book. The adventure and characters. It definitely had the MIB feel to it.

Merry Christmas my lovely Readers

Merry Christmas Eve!
I figured I would wish everyone who celebrates a Merry Christmas now because I probably won't be on tomorrow. I'll be busy meeting Ryan's parents. (although I may do that tonight not quite sure) and then going over my dads house and letting them meet Ryan. Then a Christmas party with friends of his. This might actually be the first Christmas I'll enjoy. (Even though I don't have my best friend here to share it with. I love you Aubrey!!! Hope you have a good Christmas in Virgina.)

Lan- Thanks for being there when I needed someone to talk to, and for encouraging me to keep writing. Even though I haven't done much. Maybe, that can be a 2012 resolution. I still owe you a book you know. 

Amy- Darling, you have no idea how much your friendship means to me. You've pretty much heard every bad thing that's happened to me this year, and were there to tell me it'd be okay. I can't thank you enough. I hope you have a good Christmas because you definitely deserve one, and so does Lexi. (Tell her I said Merry Christmas)

Book review: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My thoughts:
I wanted this book from the moment the cover was shown, and I read the synopsis. I love x-men, and Rogue was one of my favorite characters so when people compared this book to those movies and her character I knew it was something I wanted I had to read. For the past month or so it's been out, I'm like I will get it and read it soon so when Amy asked me what I wanted for Christmas it was either this or Mara Dyer. I will say I'm glad she chose this one. I like love the way Tahereh Mafi writes. She has such a beautiful way with words, and the uniqueness with which it was written. I love the way the words and sentences have the strike out through them. It shows us what Juliette wants to say, but keeps to herself. I love the story also. I'm a complete sucker for any story with super powers, anything compared to Xmen I will more than likely love.

Characters:
Juliette is an awesome MC. Strong and determined to do what she believes is right. At times she's a little insecure, but with her parents and others treating her like a recluse because of her curse gift it's understandable. Then enters Adam (OMG) I'm telling you I'm stacking up on these YA crushes. :) Adam is an absolute doll. I can say to much about him without giving things away, but I love him. Seriously. Then you have Warner, a high ranking solider in the re-establishment. As much as I wanted to hate him. (which was a lot.) I still have a little bit of a soft side for him. Even though he's pretty much an ass.Then there's Kenji, who I couldn't figure out. We learn later in the book who he is. :P you have to find out though. Then of course Adams little brother James. Needless to say I pretty much liked liked liked every character. :)

The ending:
I can't say to much about it because I just can't but I'm so ready for the second one now because it threw me for a loop.

If you haven't read this book yet then I HIGHLY recommend it. It deserves every bit of the awesome praise that it's getting.

If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?

1. Vampire academy: I wouldn't be to fond of the Dead Vampires, but I think being in the school would be awesome. Perhaps becoming a teacher.

2. Harry Potter: I would love to just live inside Hogwarts everyday. Everything in there changes so you would always find something new.

3. Iridis (I think that's how it's spelled): The city of the shadow hunters. The way Cassandra Clare described it. It made it sound awesome.

Comparing YA to real life: Guys and relationships

This is something that I've been talking to a friend about because as readers, YA or not, we tend to look at things differently. (Or maybe, that's just me) Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is we see reality and then we see bookality (or the fantasy in books) and then we go and compare these things to each other right? Again am I the only one that does this? I'm serious I'll be sitting here thinking what would -insert character name here- do in this situation. Just look at my long post about friendship back from June. Real(Life)ality Vs Bookality. I was going through some things then, and with a lot of help I realized somethings are more important. :)

I'm going to be completely honest here. I've never been much for any kind of relationship, and maybe that's because I never really had one, I never really knew what I wanted, or because I'm really, really shy. I'm not kidding when I say I'm shy. I've never been one to approach someone and just start randomly talking. I guess it's a fear of rejection, of being hurt, and I don't do well with that kind of thing. I'm quite sensitive. The friends I have it took me a lot of time to get use to them, but I'm really trying to work on that. I'm 25 so I'm thinking it's time I get over what fears I might have. So this is where my comparison comes in I guess you could say.

Why did I choose this one?
This seems like it just has all sorts of genres mixed into one. Dystopian, fantasy, paranormal, ghosts. I'm all about a mixed genre books. :) Even the cover looks like it has a little bit of everything in it. I love the colors. Yeah, that's pretty much all I gotta say.

I love my facebook because I always find some of the most interesting things dealing with books while I'm scrolling through it. Once again I came up a poll for your favorite book of 2011 from MTV of course it came though from Bloodlines saying vote for Bloodlines (which I did because well I love Richelle Mead) but I had a hard time because some of my other favorite books were on the list as well like Divergent, Where she went, Shatter Me, Legend. In the end though my love for the VA series triumphed. :)

Book Review: Supernaturally by Kiersten White

And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.

So much for normal.

MY THOUGHTS:
Going into this I thought I would love it just as much as Paranormalcy, but sadly it fell a little short for me. Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed it, it just didn't have that spark. As much as I enjoyed the humor in the first one I didn't see to much of it here. I think it's because this book took a different turn. The first one focused more on Evie and her time at IPCA where as Supernaturally focuses more on what happens when she becomes "normal" or as close to normal as Evie can be. Supernaturally focuses on who/what Evie actually is and we learn more about where she came from, why she is the way she is, and more.

In the second book Evie seems a little more selfish/whiny. I still enjoy her as a character it's just I wish she would have been a little more stronger and not worry so much about what others thought. Focus on what was good in her life her boyfriend, her friend,  her new school life.

Lend I absolutely love his character in both books actually. He seems to genuinely care about Evie, and it kind of irritated me when Evie would act the way she did towars him. I mean you have an awesome boyfriend why waste that with worrying about other retarded things.

Jack is the newest character in the series and he's a little younger then Evie. At times I really liked his character. He was fun, free-spirited, but then you have that mystery to him. Who is he really does he have something to hide?

I have to admit at first I wasn't sure what was going on , and who was causing the problems. A little later on in the book I began to wonder if a certain character was it, and it was.

All in all I would say if you read and enjoyed Paranormalcy then read Supernaturally because it is different from it's other one. I definitely can't wait to read the ending to Evie's story. Endlessly comes out next year.

When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)

When I've read a book I'll usually just put it back up on my shelf in hopes that one day I'll read it again. I think the two main series I have that I've read numerous times are Vampire Academy (all 6 books) and Twilight (all 4 books). There are a few that I want to go back and re-read because I can't for the life of me remember what happens and I still have to read the last books in those series like Evernight and Stargazer. I read a few years ago and I have yet to read the last two and now that I have all of them it 'll be fresh in my mind (not to mention I can review the first two since I didn't have my site back then) the other series is the Wolves of mercy falls. I read Shiver when it came out, but haven't read Linger or Forever which I have. Yeah,  that wasn't part of the question, but anyways I have a hard time giving away any books unless I have an extra copy. Which in my case sometimes happens.

This has nothing to do with books, but the past few months have been like crap for me with family problems and living arrangements. It's weird how it takes one REALLY good thing to make all the BAD things not so bad. These past 2 weeks or so have been awesome. I just want to say thanks to those who have put up with my emails. :) You know who you are. Oh, I got a new phone from said good thing for Xmas. :) See points below.

Why did I pick this?
Okay, by now you should anything with a beautiful cover I'm immediately drawn to it, and this one is no exception. I love the colors in the cover and just the way the girl is posed like she might be a little camera shy or she's like no way, or a million others things could be going on. Then there is the synopsis. Dying for a 3rd time. Past memories, hurt, death, it all sounds so intriguing. What do you think?

Books to Movie: Wither by Lauren DeStefano

As I was scrolling through my facebook clutter I came upon a link from Lauren Destefano about her book Wither saying how it's been acquired for film rights. Now I haven't read the Wither yet, but I did just buy it a few days ago in hopes that I  can read it before the end of the year. Yeah, I know I have to hurry up with that huh? I did read whatever was on the publishers site a few months back, and it sounds good. I've seen really good reviews for it and some okay reviews. I'm kind of in that dystopian faze right now so I'm hoping this one is awesome. I love the covers to this one and the 2nd book Fever coming out next year.

Write on: Vision this...

Here's a little bit of what I've been trying to work on. Sadly, I haven't done much on it.
Outline:

Kaelyn always knew she was different from the first “vision” she had of a bird hitting a 18 wheeler truck at age two while she pointed out the car window saying SPLAT to that day 5 years ago (her birthday) when she arrived to find police officers in her home, and her dad on the couch crying for the first time in her life.

She maybe able to see the future, to see people’s fates, but sometimes that’s not a good thing, and while knowing a persons fate is easy, it’s forgetting that fate that’s truly hard.

“If I knew that it would turn out to be the “happily ever after” ending it wouldn’t be as bad, but knowing they never stand a chance well it pretty much sucks. Still, I want to save them, I believe I can save them, I have to save them. I can’t really explain why I see what I see. but I’m willing to learn.”

She can’t turn it on and off, and soon she’ll learn that she REALLY can’t save them.
Question is how far is she willing to go and how much is she willing to lose before everything seemingly turns out alright…if in fact it does at all.

Question: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends?
I haven't been able to use this answer in awhile, but I would have to say Vampire Academy. I mean straight up this is my fave book, and if I could I would make everyone read it. I got my sister in law to read the whole series in a few months. For contemporary I would say If I stay and Where she went those are awesome books. For dystopian I'm gonna go with Divergent.
