November is Contemporary Month

Just Contemporary
Hosted by Ashley at Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing
It took a bit to decide that I wanted to do this for November because I'm usually more on the side of Paranormal, but I think maybe this month is a good time to take a step back from that scene, and try some contemporary books. While I have quite a bit of contemp books on my shelf I read very few of them. I feel bad about it to because the ones I have actually read I've loved them. Raw Blue, Identical, The Day Before, and I'm sure there's more, but for now that's all I got. (all which I have reviews for) Starting tomorrow (after I finish Anna dressed in blood) I will begin my journey through contemporary books for this month. I have my stack sitting here on my desk so we will see how far I long I can get. If you have any suggestions as to where I should start tomorrow let me know. (It also depends on what I have on my shelf) I'm pretty sure Where She Went will be first.

  1. Isn't it funny how comtemps don't really pique our interest and yet whenever we read one, they're some of the best books ever! I have a few I want to read too but there just isn't enough time with NaNo happening!

  2. Yeah, it is. I'm going to have to learn to broaden my horizon.

  3. Contemps didn't use to pique my interest much but I read a few that were raved about and it seems I'm more likely to love a contempo then any other genre. I have different expectations from them and they usually meet those expectations. And now that I've been reading a contemp a day I've really realized how much I love them. I read like 5 in a row and then last night I had an urge for a fantasy so I might be taking a break to read The Gray Wolf Throne. But I might take a break while reading it to read a contemp too cause I'm really loving them! Plus my bookshelf of all TBR contemp is finally going down!
    So glad you're joining us!

  4. I know what you mean with contemporary novels...but I think it's because a lot of the time the subject matter hits so close to home. And sometimes we want to escape! BUT, I agree with everyone else...when you finally pick one up you can't put it down!
