Top Ten Tuesday is Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week list is Top ten books I resolve to read in 2011.
So this list could be very long if it weren't only 10 books, but seeing as how that's the case I will try to pick 10.
In no particular order I give you my ten.....
- Beautiful Darkness- You would think for as long as it took me to find this book. I would have read it the day I bought it. I didn't though *sad* It's just a big BIG book. I really do want to find out about Lena and Ethan and more of their journey.
- Fade and (Gone when I get it)- Shhh it's not two books. It doesn't count as two. :) I want to read this book *cough* books because I read Wake and I felt like I needed more to the story of Janie and Cabel so yeah reading these would probably help with that.
- The Mortal Instruments Books- I feel like I'm behind times here with these books. I have the first two well actually I have the second my sister in law has my first book. I need to get the third before I start though so I'm not completely behind. I know the 4th comes out sometime this year.
- Catching Fire (and Mockingjay)- Again I'm behind the times here. I did read the first Hunger games book, and wasn't overly thrilled with it so maybe that's why I'm taking my time on these. Plus, I don't have mockingjay yet.
- Wuthering Heights- You know I was actually going to buy this today when I went to HPB. I had it in my hand the pretty cover with the flower, but I put it back because I had way to many books. You ever do that? Go into a book store and have a crapload of books only to think to yourself. "You have too many just put some down and walk away slowly." Yeah, I do all the time. Anyways, it's sad to say but I really haven't read in of the "classics" I'm thinking I need to start somehwere. :)
- Black Dagger Brotherhood books- These were some of the first series books I put on my list. Yet, somehow I haven't read any.
- The Forest of Hands and Teeth- I know this may seem weird seeing as how I have it under "currently reading" I keep putting it down and reading other books then going back to it. So I need to finish it.
- Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist- I don't know why I want to read this one. It's just one that's been on my list for awhile. *shrugs*
- Speak (or any of Laurie Halse Anderson books)- I have this book on my sehlf actually I just need to read it. I've heard so many good things about it. Then there's the whole banned thing.
- The Eragon Series- These are some seriously thick books, but I've heard from my sister in law that they're nothing like the movies so I have to admit that makes me curious.
I know I know half the books on here are more towards series, but what can I say.
Tell me what are some of yours?
Ashley
I love your choices. Speak, definitely. Eragon, yes to book one. Hunger Games, yes.
ReplyDeleteHere's my list of ten books to read this year.

Where Eragon is concerned the movies are absolutely nothing to the book. If I remember correctly they've changed to story line so much that only the names of the characters were familiar and nothing else! I've read the first two books and I quite enjoyed them. It was interesting to watch Paolini grow as a writer as well. I haven't read Brisingr as yet, though. It's been sitting on my shelf for months now...I'll get to it some day...
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!:)

I want to read the Eragon series too this year.
ReplyDeleteWuthering Heights is enjoyable, but personally I much prefer Jane Austen to the Brontes.
Great list! Speak is fantastic. Beautiful Creatures made my list. It's good to see everyone anxious to read the sequel, hopefully I'll enjoy the first. The Mortal Instruments and Hunger Games also made my list! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy them all!

Speak is on my list also. Yes finish the Wake trilogy, I mean the book ;-)
ReplyDeleteHunger Games is on my list...I'm glad to meet someone who doesn't just gush over how great it is. It's not something I would normally pick up but it was on tons of book blogger "Best of 2010" lists, so I'm gonna see what all the hype is about. I'll be interested to see what you think as well :)
ReplyDeleteYes, you must read TMI and finish THG!
ReplyDeleteLots of good books in your list! I am planning on re-reading Wuthering Heights this year (I read it once 10yrs ago but I don't remember much) and I am currently reading through the BDB books. Speak is wonderful too - I read it last year and it was one of my favourite books of 2010.
ReplyDeleteYou have some great reading ahead of you! Some of my most favorite books are on your list. I'm with you regarding Beautiful Darkness. I had to have it immediately, and I have yet to read it.
ReplyDeleteWow. You have so many books/series that I hope you enjoy as much as I did - The Mortal Instruments (yay) Catching Fire & Mockingjay (of course) and Black Dagger Brotherhood (I'm addicted to these!).
ReplyDeleteI loved Wuthering Heights - and I do know that book store with tons of books in arms feeling - Good luck to you and have an awesome time!! :")
ReplyDeleteYou HAVE to read Speak - and Catching Fire is pretty cool as well :-) Happy reading in 2011!

The Forest of Hands and Teeth is a great book. But, you might want to wait until The Dark And Hollow Places comes out, because then the trilogy will be complete.
ReplyDeleteALSO yay for Catching Fire and Mockingjay, those books are awesomesauce.
I love Wuthering Heights! It's like a crazy Gothic soap opera.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first book Eragon ok enough, though it didn't blow me away. I couldn't get very far in the second book though.
Thanks everyone for commenting. :)
ReplyDeleteYour list is really great! I think I want to try Wuthering Heights, too - and The Mortal Instruments. Catching Fire is the best of those three, in my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteShanyn- Thanks..I really do need to read catching fire I'm hoping when I do it will revive my faith in the series.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Mortal Instruments- Enjoy!
