In My Mailbox (4)

This is a weekly MeMe hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.com
I was trying not to buy any books this week. Yeah that totally didn't work out. I go into walmart and I'm like a kid in a freakin' candy store. I go straight to the book section. I was actually looking for The Morganville Vampire Volumes so that I could take those with me to the signing well I found one. If you want to see pictures and find out about the signing I went to head on over to my post.

So here's my little list:
Bought:
1.) The Fledgling Handbook 101 (I have all the HoN books so far. I might as well add this)(Walmart)2.) Misguided Angel by Melissa De La Cruz (I cracked I had to get it)(Got while at the book signing at Borders)
3.) Morganville Vampires Volume 1 by Rachel Caine (I got this at the signing I went to. Definitely cool)
4.) Morganville Vampires Volume 2 by Rachel Caine (walmart grab)
5.) Ghost Town-Morganville Vampires #9 (Also got at signing and it has a picture that Rachel's husband drew in it)

SwagI got a Ghost Town Bookmark from the signing it's all 3D and stuff and signed

Sorry the picture and video are kind of crappy and the volume is low I was trying to be quiet because I'm at my moms apt and she's asleep.

So what did you get in your mailbox?
Leave me line and I'll come leave one right back!

Rachel Caine Book Signing

Well I actually went to a book signing. My first one I was excited it was in Southlake about 30 minutes from where I live. Never the less I found it with the help of my GPS. I went with my mom (I made her go) we got there maybe 20 minutes before it started, and there were quite a few people already there. Rachel was already talking about stuff. I just kind of sat down and listened. It was really cool to hear her talk about the books and just things in general. At 2pm is when it started though, she went on to tell us about herself and other books she had written. I really did find it fascinating. Maybe I'm just weird like that. Then she let us ask question. I din't ask any, but I was just happy to be there. :) Then she read a little from her new book Ghost Town (Morganville Vampire series #9) She said she contracted for 12 books in that series. A new book every 3 months I believe. I think I would go nuts. Then was the signing I got three signed, and her husband was with her and he drew in the back of one, a tiger (which I think is cool because I love tigers and big cats). Then I got a picture with her. I'm telling you I'm still thrilled. LOL

She seems like a very down to earth, sweet person, and was pretty funny at times. Every once in awhile her husband would add in stuff. Ya'll were awesome! I'm glad I got to go.

I wish I could bought a few others for her to sign that way I could have made a giveaway, but sadly I don't have much money and I spent 45 dollars there like it was (I had to get my Misguided Angels book)

PICTURES:
This was before it actually started.

She was telling us about herself, and her books

That was my awesome day today.

Any questions, comments, likes, dislikes let me know leave a comment. Much love!

Nothing new for now(Random Post)

I don't have anything new as of right now to put up. Sorry my darlings! I'm probably going to be totally random on this post just bare with me. Is that the right use of bare? I don't know. I've noticed when I type I always reverse my letters in words. I catch it most of the time, but sometimes I don't sorry about that.

Well I'm going to a book signing tomorrow (or today ) however you want to look at it. It's 30miles away according to my GPS, but it's all good this is the closest one to me so far. I'm dragging my mom along with me because I don't want to drive by myself and no one else would go with me. I don't have many reader friends. It's going to be at the Barnes and Nobles n Southlake (Texas).   It's Rachel Caine the author of the Morganville Vampire Series. Ok I haven't read the series yet, but I did buy book 3 and 4 today. I totally broke my not buying any books this week thing I had going. It was bound to happen. I'm gonna take that with me and try and get it signed. I'll proably end up by the first 2 also. I kind of need those two before I can start my others (that one was all walmart had).

Yeah I ended up getting another book along with it. *sighs*

Oh, I'm half way through Nightshade and so loving it. I think I'm a Shay fan as of right now, but that could change when I finish the book which I probably will in the next few days. Also I'm half way through If I Stay. I have a feeling I might be crying during it. I think after those two I'm going to try and re-start The Hunger games, and Willow try to keep myself balanced with fantasy and non-fantasy.

A little time for random pictures:
This is my weiner, Toby! He's been through alot this past October. I had to taken him to the vet because he was having seizures. (He never had them before) Now he has to take medicine. :( So far everything seems good I haven't seen him have one. That's nt to say that he hasn't though.

My baby again. I love him so much he is a pain in the butt. Totally worth it though I wouldn't trade him for anything.

This is my current living arrangement. A futon at my moms house because my electricity is still off. Hey, at least I got my books.

Vampire Academy wallpaper like thing on my google account. I thought it only fitting since it was bookish related. :)

Again my wallpaper on my laptop all quotes from Vampire Academy. I told you I'm definitely obessessed with it.

I warned you that this post is total randomness. I like to give you all a little in depth look at my goings-on. I think it shows another side of who I am. Not just a reader, reviewer, or blogger just Ashley. I should probably go and write some reviews for all the books I have read that don't have reviews.

Leave me a line and tell me what's on your mind just as long as your nice. :) No, but seriously just say hi. I love hi's and hello's and all that good stuff.

Follow Friday (4) Book blog Hop (2)

Follow Friday Question:
Who are your favorite authors??
-Humm I haven't read like a whole bunch like some people, but I do like Mary Higgins Clark (her books got me inmore interested in reading), Richelle Mead (her vampire academy series def sparked my YA fascination), Maggie S. (I'm not gonna attempt her last name), Alyson Noel, and I know there's probably a whole bunch of others. I'm sorry I have a bad memory, or maybe it's more of a selective memory.
Those are a few of mine though. :)

Book blogger hop Question-
"What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"
I think personally it doesn't affect me. If they like the blog enough they'll stick around and comment. You don't have to comment everytime and every little thing, but like said a few comments don't hurt. It's nice to know that all the work we put into our blogs are actually being read by our fellow bloggers. I haven't ever stopped following a blog because you never when you might want to pop in. I'll go through and read them, and I may not comment, but it doesn't mean I don't read them. :)

That's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

I really love this smile face thing lately :)

Leave me a line. I'll respond back in some way.

Always A Witch Review

AUTHOR: Carolyn MacCollough
PUBLISHER: Houghton/Mifflin
PAGES: 288
STAND ALONE/SERIES: Series (Book 2)
BOOKS: Once a Witch (1)
PUBLISH DATE: August 1, 2011
RECEIVED FROM: Netgalley

OUTLINE:Since the gripping conclusion of Once A Witch, Tamsin Greene has been haunted by her grandmother's prophecy that she will soon be forced to make a crucial decision—one so terrible that it could harm her family forever. When she discovers that her enemy, Alistair Knight, went back in time to Victorian-era New York in order to destroy her family, Tamsin is forced to follow him into the past. Stranded all alone in the nineteenth century, Tamsin soon finds herself disguised as a lady's maid in the terrifying mansion of the evil Knight family, avoiding the watchful eye of the vicious matron, La Spider, and fending off the advances of Liam Knight.

STARTED: 10-30-10
FINISHED: 11-3-10

MY THOUGHTS:
I loved it and that's saying alot because I haven't read the first one yet. :( I know shame shame. I put it on my to order list. So for starters not having read the first one I found it very easy to understand what was going on right away. Which to me is a plus. In the story itself the characters did tell about things that happened in book one, which for me made it all the more reason to read the first book as soon as I can buy it.

The main part of the story revolves around Tamsin traveling back to around 1887 to warn her past family about a danger that good ruin the Greene Family. How can she possible do that without her timetraveling boyfriend? Well once she finds the way. She manages to get there and wiggles her way into the Knight's household. What exactly goes on there? You'll have to read and find out. It has exciting twists and turns and roundabouts. :) I will say that the ending not so much what I was expecting. I did enjoy it.

I'm also a fan of the whole Talents. Not all the characters can do the same as the others. They all have well "Talents" from freezing, fire, reading this book (like a teller),timetraveling, bodyslipping (don't actually know what it's called), absorbing others talents, and some others those are the main ones though.

I loved the MC from the beginning of the story and all the rest of the characters. Tamsin is full of witty comebacks and she seems to care alot about her family (even if she does mess with Rowena and the dress she picked out for the wedding for Tamsin). Everyone of the family members were funny. Uncle Chester and his fixing things like the teapot to make it sing "I'm a little teapot" too funny. The grandmother even though she didn't do or say much. What she did have to say was plenty. Like all Grandmas she's wise. Gabriel oh Gabriel the awesome boyfriend (and timetraveler) cares alot for Tamsin. He's just the all around good guy. *sigh* The best friend Agatha, who didn't have a big part but never the less was a good character/friend.
Even the Knight Family were great, they were somewhat disturbing, but that's what makes villians good.

I can only hope a third will come from it. :)

MEMORABLE QUOTES:
-Where's Rowena? She asks. (Mom)
I froze her I say. "She makes a great statue in the garden." (Tamsin)
You did?....I mean you did what? You can't just freeze your sister.(mom)
It'll wear off in a week..or two. Is there anything to eat in here? (Tamsin)

-Mmmm, so good. Even if it is posionious. Go on I dare you. (Tamsin to Gabriel)

-Yes, I'll live or Yes the second cake she just ate is okay. Kind of important to be specific here. (Gabriel to Tamsins mom)

-Ok, I'm sensing a dry cleaner is not an option here. (Tamsin on being stuck in the past)

-Thom sent you? That doesn't make any sense. why? Then I decide since my grandmother frequently seems to fling me into dangerous situations it must be a Greene family trait. (Tamsin to Isobel)

Thanks Netgalley for sending it to me :)

Book Review: The Notebook by Nicholas Sarks

AUTHOR: Nicholas Sparks
PUBLISHER:  Warner Books
PAGES: 224
STAND ALONE/SERIES: Stand Alone

OUTLINE: A Southern-fried story of love-lost-and-found-again, revolves around a single time-honored romantic dilemma: will beautiful Allison Nelson stay with Mr. Respectability (to whom she happens to be engaged), or will she hook up with Noah, the romantic rascal she left so many years ago? We're not telling, but you have two guesses and the first one doesn't count. Decades later, after Allison develops Alzheimer's, her beau uses "the notebook" to read her the story of the great love she's plumb forgot.

STARTED: 2009
FINISHED: 2009

MY THOUGHTS: I read this book after the movie came out. I think I only read it then because my friend gave me the book. It was a good book I'm not a fan of it starting one way then flipping back to the past for most of it then going back. I thought the actual story was really sweet though for a man that you love to go through all that trouble to tell you a story. Knowing that you won't remember it.

I'm not really a big fan of Nicholas Sparks to begin with I guess it's not sci-fiy (Is that even a word sci fiy...LOL) enough for me, or it doesn't consist of the paranormal. :) I think I've found my true love in way of books.

I do however like most of the movies that come from his books. Maybe I should read The Last Song and Dear John because I liked well The Last Song movie. I haven't seen the other one.

Sorry this review wasn't more "in depth" like the others. Some books bring out the typer in me and some don't. :)

MOVIE:  I wasn't overly excited about this movie like I think alot people seemed to be. I like rachel mcadams and then other dude who played in it.

Excited and Supernatural!

First off I wanna say I'm freakin' excited about actually winning something. This is the first time. It kind of made my day well this morning when I read the email because I've actually had a lousy week with the whole electricity thing. Afterlife things! How cool is that? This series was actually one of the first 3 series I read after Vampire Academy and HoN. Anyways, Supernatural...anyone watch it? If so did you see not this past weeks episode but the one before it. It was funny as hell they were making fun of Twilight (I like Twilight but this cracked me up) The title of the episode was "Live Free or Twihard" the beginning of it was an "Edward and Bella moment" then through the whole episode they made cracks at Twilight. Glitter, Pattinson, everything total awesomeness. I did feel sorry for Dean though Sammy just let the Vampire turn him. (All for a good reason though). Oh have ya'll watched Dead Like Me I'm watching the first season now. It cracks me up I love the reapers they're to funny. I'm hyped up right now. Don't know why though it's 2am. Maybe I should go and read some and calm down. Right now I'm reading If I stay so far so good. Also Always a Witch on Netgalley I'm enjoying this one as well. :) Hopefully I can have those done by the end of the week if not sooner.   I believe that is all fo now.
