Book Review: Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

AUTHOR: Sophie Jordan
PUBLISHER: HarperTeen
PAGES: 384
STAND ALONE/SERIES:duology
SOURCE: Bought
OUTLINE:

When Davy Hamilton's tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Julliard. Davy doesn't feel any different, but genes don't lie. One day she will kill someone.

Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he's not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

MY THOUGHTS
I read Firelight back when I first started blogging and as much as everyone seemed to love it I was in the minority who didn't. Then she came out with her NA Titles, the first being Foreplay, and from I can remember about that story I enjoyed it.
Uninvited could have gone either way. I'm of course happy to say that it went down the path of enjoyment. It had my full attention throughout the story. I found the concept of HTS, or Homicidal Tendency Syndrome, as it's called in the book interesting. The protag could either turn hero or villain. I wanted to see how Davy would turn out, how she dealt with this kill gene she apparently had. My one complaint is I'm not sure (or maybe I can't remember) how this gene came about. I wanted to learn more about it. More about this world where killing is in the gene.
Davy is definitely your typically high school girl. Star boyfriend, popular, but needless to say when her test comes back positive for HTS her perfect life is killed. It dies that day. She learns they only way to live in her new world is to be strong and go with her gut instincts.
