MY THOUGHTS:  I just have to say this I started it last night and finished a few moments ago. That should definitely tell you something. I was completely and totally hooked on this book. From the moment Sophie made Kevin go nutso at her high school dance to her encounter with the Were on the first day at her "New" school to the ending of the book( which I can't say). This school had it all: spirits that wondered around, Weres, Shifter, Witches/Warlocks, Faeries, and 2 Vampires. It had me guessing what the heck was going to happen with Sophie, and her Best Friend Jenna, the only vampire, at Hecate (more commonly called Hex Hall by the students), and also the 3 girls wanting Sophie to join their coven, and of course the love interest Archer (what a name right). It seemed like everything would be fine for Sophie, but when things start happening to the Students she begins to wonder if the school really is safe for her. According to the headmistress and teachers, and the dad she barely knows, it's fine because they "think" they know who's doing it, and why not right? She has all the attributes of the killer. Like I said before I never expected the twists and turns the book brought. I also love how it made me laugh out loud seriously. I'm not one to actually laugh at books, but the characters and their sarcasm and witt is funny. Sophie and Archer,  Sophie and Jenna, and even some of the exchanges between the others like: Taylor, the shifter and Beth the Werewolf, or  Taylor and The Faeries. I loved every single character in the book even the mean ones. I hated to see them get hurt. I wasn't to thrilled with the way the book ended. I'm not gonna say how, but let's just say it's totally open for the second one, Demonglass, which by the way I love the cover to it.

As you can probably tell I have a thing for books with the academy like setting it's always fun to read the drama, and everything else from them.

Book Review: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

MY THOUGHTS:
This book is told from the view point of Susie Salmon, who died at age 14, as stated above. As she sits up in the Heavens watching her family and friends live their lives without her.Knowing that their lives won't be the same. As, her parents marriage starts to get rocky from her Dad's persistence to find his daughter's killer, and her mom's supposed affair with one of the townspeople. Her sister growing up to become her own person finding friendship, and a classmate Susie never really knew who feels her presence. Could something more come from that? All this happening while her killer romes the town free and clear. Sooner or later Susie's going to have to let it go leaving the living world behind, but not before getting to do something she missed out on.

I think what intrigued me the most about the book was the way the author decribed heaven, and just things in general. There's a few things that make me love a book, and the description is one of them. I like to be able to read and imagine with my mind what the places look like and see how the characters act in situations. I think Alice Sebold did a very good job of it.

Movie- This is probably my favorite book to movie-movie LOL. I love the imagery. It didn't hurt that they had Mark Wahlberg in it either. :)

Heinous Crimes, Immoral Minds Review

SIDE NOTE: This is a debut book from Aubrey Becker. I have the pleasure of getting to read it because I'm a friend. I have to say I couldn't be more happy for her either this has been one of her many dreams since I've known her to write and get published. To be able to see it in print is awesome because I know how long she worked on it. So with that being said here's my review. 

MY THOUGHTS: Alright, I've sat here for awhile thinking how do I want to write this review. As, you may have guessed I'm not the best at writing these kind of things,but I still sit here and try. This story is about one girls fight to survive and to take back her life from a man who murdered her mom. After, Leyla answers a phone call from her step-father asking her to come and take him to the hospital because he "thinks" he's dying, and agrees. Things take a turn for the worse. Going over his house was probably the biggest mistake she could have made. Now with everything that's happened, Leyla is being stalked. Even with her friends by her side telling her things are okay. They don't know the full truth. They don't see how bad this is affecting her life. Will she actually be able to live a happy life knowing that out there among people is the one person who's intent is to make Leyla's life hell, and maybe even worse.

This is really a good read. The things that happen in it are believable, and sometimes you feel like you just want to tell Leyla that everything is ok. Although, I kind of wanted to hit her for answering the phone call, but without that there wouldn't be a story so it's all good. It has all the little parts that make a story good: action, romance, suspense, humorous characters.

I must say my favorite character wasn't the main one I actually liked the best friend. She was always fast to make a snappy comeback, but whenever her friend needed her she was there. Then of course the brothers best friend that's always a plus because when ever there's a brother there's always a hot friend right?

So go ahead and do yourself a favor. Read it! It's a short read for anyone who doesn't like very big books.

Electricity or Books?

This is sad, really sad, I'm having to stay at my mom's because my electricty was turned off. Apparently, when they say you have until November 4th to pay or, we'll turn it off what they really mean is we're just going to turn it off whenever the hell we want. It looks like for the time being I'm on a book buying hiatus.  Which sucks because I have Misguided Angel by Melissa De La Cruz to buy for my blue bloods series, and then Night Star in November and Last Sacrifice in December. I'm thinking those might be the only 3 I'll be purchasing (maybe you know I can't say no) Now if only I can say no to Half Price Books I'll be ok I think, but we all know how that pans out. I think I need a little encouragement. :( This is going to be hard for me. It might also help me though it'll give me time to actually read what I have in my TBR list. The only problem is alot of those books are series that I just have the first book. Which means if I read those then I'm going to want to know what happens after that books ends. This is ridiculous why can't bills just go away for awhile, or perhaps I should learn to just manage my money better.

In other news, I was thinking about putting parts of my writing (that my friend and I are doing) up on the site. Actually just my writing and my characters. Her's are on her computer so that I couldn't do. What do you all think? Yes or no? Maybe even just my own writing that I've been working on for quite some time and I still have only 2 pages. I love the storyline and everything. I just can't motivate myself which really bites because I know if I could it would get somewhere. any suggestions?

Anyways until I can get my damn electricity back on I guess I'm stuck here at my mom's which is okay I guess at least I have the internet here. :)

Bad Girls Don't Die Review

MY THOUGHTS:

Ok I started 10-25-10 and just finished it tonight, OMG! This is one of my new favorite books seriously. I loved loved it. I haven't read many books as of right now, but this by far was the scariest one. I know that sounds a little crazy seeing as how it doesn't look or seem that way from the excerpt it tells. How can dolls be scarey right? Just you wait and read. I guarentee you I won't look at dolls the same way (especially if they have green eyes)
I kid you not while I was reading this I stayed with my mom and she would go to bed and I'd be sitting on the bed reading and not wanting to get up to go in the kitchen or anything with the lights off.

At the beginning of the story everything seemed as normal as it could be for Alexis. As she stood outside her creepy old Victorian house taking pictures at 3am. Then she heard noises
what could it have been?  Oh, it was just her sister, or was it?

I loved the MC, Alexis she wasn't the typical pretty girl or whatnot, and she definitely has an attitude that says she doesn't give a rat's butt (yes that's what I said). Through out most the book she was kind of a loner (she did have the "doom squad" every once in awhile) Then BAM a hit in the head with a door by Carter and her feelings toward the popular kids went down a notch...sorta.. She tried to make him go away, but he just kept coming back (Why turn down a hot guy?) That is one friendship that began to blossom. Then somehwere down the line she became friends with some others. I liked how Alexis could finally look past who they were and give them a chance.

In the end things will suprise you. I can say that at one part in the book I was like are you kidding me? Don't do it damn it! Don't! It all worked out though. :)

This took me awhile to think about how I wanted to do this review, and I'm still not quite happy with it because I don't think it does it justice (also I'm not to good on the whole review thing yet) it might end up getting changed, but I just wanted to go ahead and put up the review for people.

What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost?"

- Hum well seeing as how I live in an apartment and have like 2 built in bookcases, and that's pretty much it. I would love to have nice big book cases. Maybe, even just a room for them. Perhaps a room full of different type bookcases like I've been looking around on the web at some of the different kinds, and kept a few pictures. Here->

If you have, or would have a daughter, what book would you want your daughter to read?

If I had a daughter I would let her choose books that fit her age at the time, or if I've read them and find that they're ok then that's fine also. If you tell a child they can't do something they're more than likely going to do it. Same with books I would assume you tell them you can't  read those types. They'll find a way. I would never so no you can't read that, unless it's age range is way out of the child age. Does that make sense?

MY THOUGHTS: I normally wouldn't read books like this, but it was the first book we read for our book club that my friend had started. Hints the reason for reading it. I've read alot of reviews on it, and some have me wondering if this is actually a believable story. I do have to say if the stuff that he talks about happend to him as a child it's beyond horrifying. I mean the things his mother would do to him; locking him in the bathroom with bleach and making him clean, to no food for days at a time, sleeping on a cot in the garage. I don't understand how through all that happened his dad didn't do anything he sat there watching this neglect. I mean this poor child had no one to stick up for him. It did read like it was being told from his point of view as a little kid. At first it's starts really good his family was happy they did things together picnics and all. the one day something inside his mom flipped and bang. What's worse is that this only happened to him and not his older brother. Like I said I normally wouldn't take a second look at a book like this, but it was chosen for us. I guess I could have put it down and stopped, but I was wrapped up in this little boys experience.

Now on the other hand I've heard where it's complete lies and that his life wasn't at all like he described in his book. So if that's the case it's really sad that he would use something so traumatic for others just to make a few dollars.

Either way it was an ok read and easy, but be warned it's not for the faint-hearted

 MY THOUGHTS: Well in the spirit of halloween I thought I need to do a few more reviews so why not this one. I read this sometime last year so I don't remember alot from it, but what I do remember is one word. Weird! I originally bought it at Goodwill because the plot sounded somewhat interesting. I mean, it's about a funhouse and carnival it couldn't be that bad right? Wrong! Oh so very wrong. In a way this makes me not want to go to a funhouse or carnival.  It's about a mother who tried to kill her baby, and well she didn't succeed. Then 25 years later she has a normal family, and everything seems fine. Then the carnival rolls into town with the freakshows and possibly someone or two from Ellen's past. Well  I can honestly say I hated this book. It was demented, and kind of gory. It was an easy read, but not worth it at all. I did however, feel bad for the children getting caught up in the mess.






That is my review, and I'm sticking to it. Have you ever read a book that just made you uh hate it because if was demented or to gory? Let me know!

Hi everyone! This week I wanted to do a Top Ten Tuesday in honor of Halloween, so I've picked out my top ten 10 spooky/creepy/scary books for the season. And, okay, some of them might not have actually scared me, but they are appropriate for Halloween.

Ok this one might be alittle hard for me to do.

1. Scary stories to tell in the dark- Whats' weird is a few ago and friend and I went to HPB and she went over to look these books up and got 3 of them I believe and we went to her house, and read them. I got to admit they're still kinda creep. "The worms crawl in the worms crawl out." What the hell? Or the big toe story. Yeah!

It may not sound creepy, but this thing was weird as hell.  It was also a little demented I think.


3. Cujo by Stephen King- I haven't actually read this yet, but I do have it in my library.

4. Are you afraid of the dark? tv series- I know this isn't a book, but I'm having a hard time coming up with books. This show came on back in the 90's on Nickalodeon(sp). They had some that still creep me the hell out like the dollhouse, or I think it was called the phone police (never make prank calls you never know who listening), and a few others. If you go on you tube and tyoe in are you afraid of the dark you can watch episodes.

5. The Shining- Yeah, I still don't like one. I never read the book, but the movie was bad enough.

6. IT by Stephen King- Clowns! Killer clowns! need I say more I remember watching this at my grandparents house when I was younger then 10. Probaly, not smart.

7. Rose red- even though I liked this movie. Still kinda scared me.

Book Questionaires..

What are you reading right now?
Well I was reading The Hunger games, but I just can't make myself get into it.
Also finishing up my friends book that she wrote
I think I'm gonna put The Hunger Games away for awhile, and come back to it. So instead I started Bad Girls Don't Die. I'm liking it so far and I'm only on like the 5th chapter. Yeah.

Do you have any idea what youll read when youre done with that?
Hum does what I just wrote count as reading another one since technically I didn't finish the one I was reading.

What magazines do you have in your bathroom right now?
None, but I have the book Wicked. :)

Whats the worst thing you were ever forced to read?
I honestly couldn't tell you probably something when I was in school, but I try to forget those days.

Whats the one book you always recommend to just about everyone?
Vampire Academy all the way..

Admit it, the librarians at your library know you on a first name basis, don’t they?
No, I have yet to actually get myself a library card.

Is there a book you absolutely love, but for some reason, people never think it sounds interesting, or maybe they read it and dont like it at all?
Nope, not that I can recall.

Do you read books while you eat? While you bathe? While you watch movies or TV? While you listen to music? While youre on the computer? While youre having sex? While youre driving?
Yes, to all but the sex thing. On the driving things not actually when I'm litereally driving but if I'm in the passenger seat I take my book with me.

When you were little, did other children tease you about your reading habits?
No, I din't read alot back then

Whats the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldnt put it down?
Vampire Academy the 5th one.

I hate to say this but I think it started with the harry potter series and a few MHC books.

A few nancy drew books, and the babysitters club (yeah I think that was my series growing up)

YA, but I'll try everything

Novel? Same as a book right? Why not just call it a book?

Yeah, it something I should probably work on because it takes my attention away from each other.

Oh goodness, honestly I like all the authors books I read or I wouldn't read them. :)

About how many books (roughly) would you say you own? (If you don’t have a clue how many, do you care to know? Why, or why not?)

Ha, I know this is about 5 minutes late because it's Tuesday now, but still I'm going to answer. My book is at about 150 right now, I know this because I write down every book I have and buy in my notebook. (I like list I think) I always like to know what I have just for the fact that I'm strange. Seriously I have like a section in my notebook for each collection I have movies, books, cds, wii games, even beanie babies (yes I collected those) Oh totally off topic there. I predict that my collection will just keep growing (that just reminded me of Dory on Finding Nemo). I'm a little tired now. So have a nice and enjoyable night everyone.

Sometimes it pays to be a little un-ordinary. Leave me a line. I like lines.

Day wasn't a total waste

OK so my day didn't exactly go as planned, but it usually never does. I did sleep until noon, but I freakin' woke up with the worst congestion. Sucks! I couldn't breathe I was so stopped up. It's OK  after a few hours it kind of evaporated if that's even possible. I don't know. I read my friends book for awhile. I should probably finish it tonight when I get home from the movie. After, reading I hopped on my laptop just because I was bored. I looked up books, sites, and all the stuff I normally do. I spent a good what 4 hours on it. Don't judge I was off today and was relaxing. :) Notice I actually put up two reviews. I'm so proud of myself. LOL. I'm slowly but surely going to have them up. Finally I wanted to get out of the house and do something. that's never a good thing in my case, it always costs me money. This was no different, my mom and I (I made her go with me to HPB) went to Half Price Books *shameful look* where I spent maybe 45 minutes looking through the YA section. Which gave me plenty of time to gather a handful of books I made my mom carry. (I knew she was good for something. J/K I love her to death) I spent....drum roll please...40 dollars again. I found books I had just put on my want list last night. I was excited. I guess I'll keep what I got to myself until next Sunday for the mailbox seeing as how I already did this weeks. See day wasn't a total waste! :) Now I'm just waiting for 10pm to come so I can go see Paranormal Activity 2, and get scared. I might not be sleeping well tonight.

MY THOUGHTS:
Well I bought this one awhile back when I had just begun my obsessive booking collecting. I got it because the back story on it sounded really interesting. I mean a girl who gets sucked into other peoples dreams. It makes you wonder what that's like for the person. After I bought the book it sat on my shelf for awhile. I finally decided that I would read it, and to be honest it took me awhile to read it. I liked the whole concept of the book, but the way it was written like journal entries wasn't really for me. I did manage to read it all, and I'm glad I did it was a good story.

I do have to say I wasn't pulled into liking Janie as the main Character though. I actually liked the guy she fell for. Yes, she fell for a guy. Don't they all? Cabel, to me was a more believable character his weird dreams he had about his father. He was that mysterious guy who hung out with the goth kids. You never actually got to know who he really is until almost the end of it. Half way through the book he starts to ignore Janie for the more popular girls, but is it what it seems? Do they resolve their issues? Questions that only you can answer by reading it.

MY THOUGHTS: This is a spin off from "The Immortal Series" that included Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame, and Night Star (Coming In Nov) This new series follows Riley, Ever's little sister, whose dead.

She thinks that being dead is going to be a relaxing thing just being with her parents and her pup Buttercup. Well, little does she know that higher authority have other plans for her like Soul Catching. With this new job comes a teacher Riley would rather not have at the beginning, Bodhi, he's kinda the nerd. As the story goes on they go to a castle in England to try and get the "Radiant Boy" to cross over, but little do Riley and Bodhi know it's not that easy, and there's much more to the castle then just Radiant boy.Who else lurks in the castle?  Riley and Bodhi have a bet going that if Riley can get the boy to cross over she'll get Flying lessons. So this encourages her a little more. Riley goes through some stuff while at the castle trying to get the Radiant boy to do what she wants, and it's funny at times because she's dead and there's nothing that could hurt her. Yet she still has fears.

All in all I enjoyed this book very much. It's tiny and an easy read and the afterlife world that Noel creates is beautiful. I loved Riley as a character in the immortal series as a snobby little sister, and being able to see her in this series as her ownself and trying to find herself I guess you could say was great. She had a little bit of an attitude, but what kid doesn't.  I'm ready for the next book to be out, but sadly, I have to wait til next year.

I'm a sucker also for beautiful book covers and this one def is beautiful. I love the colors it has and how to me it looks like maybe what the author had in mind for the Here.

I did have one complaint though. It wasn't necessarily for the book, but I'm wondering why the pages were so uneven? I thought it was just that book, but they all were like that. :(  (I also noticed that's how the Nightshade books are too)

Sucks for now

I know I'm behind right now with reviews, and everything I feel bad. I will totally and completely spend tomorrow or today actually reviewing the books I've already had the pleasure of reading which are quite a few. That is after I get some much needed rest. I'm sure I'll be up early though seeing as how I'm spending the night at my moms and she gets up early. I suspect I'll be getting up early too. So the agenda for today
1. Sleep
2. Wake up
3. Possibly take a potty break :)
4. Eat (depending on the time)
5. Computer Check

7. Read (I'm gonna finish The Hunger Games by the end of the week if not sooner) (also try and finish another I've been "reading" for quite sometime it got pushed to the back burner)
8. Possibly go to Walmart (I told my mom and her boyfriend I'd buy them a Ranger shirt and hat. Because after all Texas Rangers are in the W.S) What now Yankees...Sorry yankee fans!)
9. Computer play
10. Try and write in our story some. (I said try)

I was excited for this one to come up because like I said in a previous post I splurged Friday at HPB. So here goes....First of all my lovely stash I have

First my friend gave me a copy of her book that got published in Septemeber. Yeah it took me that long to get it from her. It's called Heinous Crimes, Immoral Minds by Aubrey Becker. It tell the story of Leyla whose step father, Richard murders her mom is sentenced to prison but gets out and stalks her and her brother, Cameron threatens Richard and gets in caught. After all that a few years go by and he calls Leyla to come take him to the hospital because his "Dying". What happens after that well why not check it out. It's an easy read.

Nightshade, I went out and bought Tuesday at walmart. I couldn't help myself. Beautiful cover and the reviews it's been getting are good. 

The Secret Scroll (Daughters of the moon series 4) by Lynne Ewing. I bought at HPB friday with a crap load of others.

The Sacrifice (Daughters of the Moon 5) by Lynne Ewing. Bought at HPB. These I got because I read the first book in the series and well I like to finish my series I start.

You're so undead to me by Stacey Jay. It has zombies in it. What more could you want?

If I stay by Gayle Forman. Bought from target. It sounded interesting, and I loved the cover.

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins. I bought this at HPB. I was so happy to see it because I wanted to get it. I think I'm liking the books dealing with other wordly Academies. *shrugs*

Eternal by Cynthia Smith. HPB bought. This was an impluse buy. I liked the cover and the back sounded interesting.
