Kisses from Hell Review

AUTHORS: Richelle Mead, Alyson Noel, Kristin Cast, Kelley Armstrong, Francesca Lia Block
PAGES: 262
PUBLISHER: Harper Teen
TYPE: Anthology
OUTLINE:
Truly, Madly, Undead-ly

This irresistible collection features stories of love amid vampires by five of today's hottest authors—Kristin Cast (Tempted), Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy), Alyson Noël (Evermore), Kelley Armstrong (The Summoning), and Francesca Lia Block (Pretty Dead).

From a fugitive vampire forced to trust a boy who might work for the group bent on destroying her to the legendary romance of two immortals whose love compels them to risk everything, this heart-pounding collection brings new meaning to the words "love you forever." Whether you're into romances that are dark and moody or light and fun, these stories will quench that insatiable thirst for enchanting tales of the beautiful undead.

MY THOUGHTS:
I have to admit I really only bought this because I wanted to read Richelle Meads short story of Lissa's parents (if you don't know who those characters are, Lissa is a character from the Vampire Academy series.)

Richelle Mead's "Sunshine" Like I said I was interested in Lissa's parents story only because in the Vampire Academy Series the'yre dead (this isn't a spoiler it says in another book)(car accident) I had to admit I liked finding out about them. It tells how Eric Dragomir met Rhea Daniels on a ship, and what happens to them when they reach an island. Even though they both are in relationships. They're drawn to each other. I'm thrilled to know she's making a spin off with some of the other characters from the book. :)

Alyson Noel's "Bring me to life." It made me wonder what the hell was going on at the begining, but then you kinda start to understand what's happening at this school.  Apparently she's the only one that arrives at this "Art Academy" and the other characters keep telling her the other students will arrive later, but the fog is so thick that they have to wait. Then Danika (love the name) meets Bram oh the mysterious Bram. I liked the characters too so that helped it out. Yeah so you'll have to read it to learn more in depth about it.

Kelley Armstrong's "Hunting Kat" I liked the spin on vampires, and how they can be altered I guess you could say. It's hard to explain it. Just different and I like that. Three cheers! Good Characters.

Kristin Cast's "Above" I'm sorry but I could not for the life of me figure out what the hell it was about. I mean I did at the end almost, but it took me abit. I actually stopped reading the book because I didn't feel like reading that story, but I eventually did finish because I thought it would make sense later. It didn't I was so f'in confused with who the characters were and what they were doing. I expected it to be better (I liked the HoN series) So my expectations were high.
Yeah.

Then there was "Lilith" by Francesca Lia Block. It wasn't that I hated this story really it was just weird for me. Maybe, I'm just stupid but I din't get the storyline or whatever. I like the name though. :)

(Yes, 3 stars because I liked 3 of the stories. )

Random Bookish Pictures

I didn't actually know where to put some of the pictures of books, and other bookish things. Just FYI I'm a random picture taker. Which means if I randomly taken pictures of book things they shall go here.

This is one of my many bookshelves that now has books instead of pictures. Most of these books are just recently purchased ones of mine. The stephen king one I've been working on read for quite some time. It's a biggin'.

Hum. I told you I'm odd. These are actually very interesting to thumb through.

I loved these poems books when I was in...well younger. They have some of the nuttiest poems, and when I saw them in a catalog I had to get them. If you've never heard of them look them up. Here's a little snippet from one called "Sick" in where the sidewalk ends.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
Like I said awesome!

Hey if you read books you gotta have the bookmarks right? LOL I think I buy a new one everytime I go to HPB. These are a much needed item for someone who reads more than one book at a time. IE me.

*is in heaven* I'm telling you I love this store more than anything. I could easily spend 100 bucks here, and at least 2 or so hours. It's that bad. Mall? Pffft! Give me a book store anyday. Is that weird? This is just one of the HPB near me. *grins*
Are you like me do you like randomly taking pictures of things? Or is that seem odd. Hum. well whatever you said let me know and drop a comment. I'll respond always.

Books and Me

So this is me with books. Simple enough huh?
Strange Angel and I. Awesome book! Ya'll should totally read!

This is Heinous Crimes, Immoral Minds by Aubrey Becker.  I'm doing this for you Aubrey. If you would like to see what it's about you can find it on amazon.com for the kindle. It's her first published book, and I think she deserves every bit of what she gets. We been best friends since '02. So please go a support her new book. :)

Now that I finally have the darn book. LOL I can start reading it, but I guess I should finish The Hunger Games first. :)

Yes, I'm currently reading this one. Right now it hasn't kept my interest, but alot of people really seem to like it so I'm trying to finish it. Maybe once I actually get to the games part it will be good. Huh?

So I have read the first 3 stories in the book. I must admit I only bought this because I wanted to read Richelle Mead's take on Lissa's parents. Also maybe to read Alyson Noel story, and Kristin Cast. Needless to say I wasn't impressed with one of them. You can see why when I finish and do the review. Gotta love suspense!

This was an older picture I took with my camera phone (hints the crappy quality) Still had to add it. Loved it! Loved Link!

So what's your take on these books? Have you read them? Do you want too? Let me know I'm a sucker for comments and I'll always comment back whether here or your site. :) Also if you follow I follow!

My Book Spree. Kinda!

OMG! I seriously should not be in charge of my own money especially on pay day when I'm off. I just spent a good 70 dollars on books. -screeches- Although I could have spent so much more at Half Price Books. I had like 8 or 9 books in my hand at one point and I was like Ashley you can't do it, put them back. So I did. :( Then I go to a Walmart that was by it to see if they had Beautiful Darkness, and they didn't. Then I went to Target to try and find it. Guess what? They had it! So I bought it of course along with some others that looked interesting, and believe it or not they aren't supernautral/fantasy. I won't share any of them just yet, (with the exception of the beautiful darkness book) I'll wait til Sunday for my mailbox thing because maybe by then I'll have some that were shipped to me a couple of days ago via mail. Something tells me it'll be this way next week. Oh wait no it can't I have rent due. That sucks!

So did anyone else go on any kinda book spree like I did? Or am I the only one that does that? Comments welcomed I will post back!

Book Series I Collect

These are just pictures of my book series that I have come to collect and love. :) (FYI: I have a WHOLE lot more than this, but most of them are not fully finished collections.)

This is my beloved Vampire Academy Series If you haven't read these you should. I totally have my sister in law hooked now. LOL she sent me a text today "I really don't like how the 3rd book ended. I'm depressed now." and then "Omg, I don't think I can move on. It's so sad." Yes, I have converted another. I'm telling you I love these books.

These are the Strange Angel books by Lili St.Crow. I've read the first one, and really enjoyed it because it had just about every creature you could think of. Sadly, I haven't finished the other books. I actually found out about this book from the back of my Vampire Academy book.

(Color) is for series by Laurie Faria Stolarz. I believe there are a few more books in this series.

I call these books the "From Hell Series" They are actually anthologies from different authorsall of which are YA authors. There's also one calle vacations from hell which I have just not on here yet.

The Dream Catcher Series by Lisa McMann.Gone is the third book which I have and need to add to this picture.

These are the House of Night books
by P.C and Kristin Cast. Supposedly there's going to be 12 books I think.

These are the Evernight books plus Balthazaar by Claudia Gray. Balthazaar is a companion novel. I've read only the first two which I never reviewed on here becaus these were actually some of the first books I read before I started blogging. :) So I'm thinking of going back and re-reading them completely. because I've forgotten what has happened

These are actually all the Mary Higgins Clark books I have. Before I began reading YA I read mystery books, and hers were the ones I enjoyed the most. Daddy's Little girl was my favorite.

These are the twilight books. I don't think any YA collection is complete with out them. These are the reason I started reading YA. So as much as people hate on them I owe a lot to them.  I've probably read these like twice.  Just for the record I'm totally a Jacob Fan. No cold, sparkly vampire for me in this book. I like me some cuddly wolfs.

These were from what I remember great books I loved the different stories in each of them and how in the end they all linked together somehow. I'm pretty sure I'll re-read these and then put up some reviews. Written by L.J Smith,

These are The Immortals Series by Alyson noel.

The Blue Bloods Series by Melissa De La Cruz. (sorry I kind of got a few others books in the picture my bad) This is a series about the Elite Group of Vampires (Blue Bloods), The Evil Ones (silve blood), and sometimes the Conduits (red bloods or humans)(It's mainly just Oliver) Then she has like a spin off I believe called Bloody Valentine. Also Keys to the Repository which is like a guidebook to the blue bloods . This is not a finished series yet so I don't have all the books.

These are the charmed books from the hit Tv show (no longer running) I have all the seasons of Charmed. Love the show. So my friend bought me these for Christmas last year. I still need to read them.

It's Harry Potter. I'm missing the 3rd book, that is just sad. I also need to get the hard back of the 2nd one.

It's the Midnighters Series. I'm missing the 2nd as you can see. I  have a habit of buying books out of order. So until it is complete I usually don't read them. This series does sound interesting though.

This series is called "The Daughters of the Moon" It actually has 13 books to it. I've read only the first one, but I have almost all now. These books are about 4 girls who come to find out they belong to a special group. Each book is a story of one of the girls. The girls are Vanessa who's invisible, Catty who's a time-traveler, Serena who's a mind-reader, and Jimena who sees the future. Then a fifth one comes in to it in a later book named Tiana who has the ability to move things with her mind.

Vampires anyone? This is The Chronicles of Vladmir Tod. I have the first 3 books so far, and I 've only read the first two, but they're good. It's from a teen boys POV so it's different.

These are The Dark Guardian book. There's apparently a 4th one now.

This is the Hex Hall Series by Rachel Hawkins. All the books are hilarious. I've actually only written a review for this first book.

The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie. I've read the first one and so far not impressed.

The Paranormalcy Series by Kiersten White. Super cute books. Evie and Lend are adorable characters.

The Nightshade books. by Andrea Cremer (Rise and Rift the first two are actually prequels) I have only read Nightshade and Wolfsbane. I loved Nightshade but it kind of dwindled on wolfsbane so hopefully it will regain some in the third book. I read somewhere that she was going to make a few more books for it.

These are the Wolves of Mercy Falls Books by Maggie S. ( I never can spell her last name) I;ve read the first, but I adored Same and Grace as characters so I need to read the others. Also she has a few other series that are out as well.

These are the Trylle Trilogy books by Amanda Hocking. Which I haven't read, but heard they are really good.

These are the House of Night books by P.C and Kristin Cast. Supposedly there's going to be 12 books I think.

So what series do you have? read? like? or you have one you think I might be interested in reading. then tell me, leave me a comment. I will def comment back.

My book collages

I started this when I had my spiral of lists I kept to tell me what books, movie, cds I had.
These are my collages of books so far just in my spiral.

This one is not quite finished. So when it is I'll put the new one up. On the left side it's the alpabet of books by Sue Grafton. I actually have a few of those books, but I haven't read them yet.

Sorry this one is all twisted around. I get all these little pictures from catalogs of book clubs I have joined like the literary guild, and some others I can't remember.

Do you make book collages too? If so let me know and leave a comment, or just leave me a comment to say hi. I <3 comments and I will post back.

Random Places for Books

Another wacky idea of mine. When I get books I tend to leave them all over the place at my house. IE: bathroom, counter top, tv stand. Also I leave them in my car. You get the picture. Here's some of those places.

Yes this book is sitting on top of my toilet. Sad, I know. It's actually been there awhile it was one of my books I usually read in the tub. :)

So far I just have the one picture, but there will be more.

Do you have weird places you put your books? Let me know by leaving a comment. :) I always comment back!
