Keepin' You Posted: Week of Goodness/contest winners

Sometimes you just have a week that you're like WOW that was great. This I'm happy to announce was one of those weeks.

(Not my photo)
BOOK SIGNING
I love going to book signings, and even I don't completely interact with anyone there I still find it fun. This past week I was able to go to the Launch Party for Julie Murphy's new book Dumplin', and it was glamorous. :) I won't go into detail here, or show all the pictures, but I adored Julie Murphy she seems like such a down to earth person. I will say this I have 3 copies of Dumplin' (Yes I said 3). One of course is signed to me, another I just had her sign without any name, and the last is one that I had pre-ordered (no signage...sorry!) So I hope you all know what that means. :)

MY MOM
So Saturday my mom and I went to HPB because...get this...she wanted to get some Stephen King books. Guys, this is huge my mom doesn't read, and when she asked me if I wanted to go with her to get her a book I nearly fainted...Okay well not really, but I was shocked. I guess it's because she has been watching the show Under the Dome, and liking it so she wanted the book. She did end up getting that book and Doctor Sleep which is apparently the sequel to the shining. I'm a YA gal so I didn't know this. She texted me a few hours later to let me know she was reading Doctor Sleep. I love my mom, and I'm going to have so much fun with it.

CONTEST WINNERS
I feel like a complete ass because I still haven't sent out my packages to my contest winners. Guys, if you've won anything from me recently I promise if you haven't received anything it's not because I'm not going to send anything or I've forgotten. I've just been busy, and I have not gotten to the post office yet. I promise I have the packages on my desk, and I will get to it.

Keeping you posted: Declined!

"Keeping you posted" is my weekly round-up from Monday-Sunday. Things I've posted on the blog the past week, and things that have gone on in my life.

Real Life Happenings
You guys it's like a weekly thing with me for something to go wrong. No joke. So this past week I went to take a lunch break, and when I went to pay the said my card was declined. WHAT! I had just checked my account balance, and I knew I had plenty in there so I was a little worried. (Luckily I had cash to get me some food.) Anyways I realized I had a voicemail, and when I went to check it after I got off work it was from my bank telling me something about fraud having to do with my card. YEAH, at this point I was freakin out. When I went to call the bank, and see what the hell was going on they informed that my card (with others) had somehow been copied so they had to turn off the credit part of it, and I could only use the debit for up to 15 days while they were sending me another card. -hangs head- I'm being to think my cosmic balance is outta whack. I'm really hoping that this week goes by better.

Keeping You Posted: Life isn't always rainbows and Unicorns

"Keeping you posted" is my weekly round-up from Monday-Sunday. Things I've posted on the blog the past week, and things that have gone on in my life.

Real Life Happenings
I don't mean to sound so negative, but have you ever had one of those weeks where you're glad it's finally over? If you're a regular follower then maybe you've seen other posts of mine where I seem down. It's something that I struggle with daily. Some days I can get through just fine without feeling that hopelessness, and other days (or 7 if you count this week) I feel like everything I do is wrong. I love my job, I love my husband, but sometimes there's that nagging feeling that I could be better, do better, and it totally sucks because I feel like I'm letting people down. Having people constantly tell you that you need to do it better doesn't help either. I know my hubby loves me, and I know he tries, but when I get like this I know I'm difficult. I shut down. I push him away. I don't do it to hurt him (yet I know it does.) I do it because it's part of me being depressed. It's a coping mechanism. If I let it go maybe it will go away. (Note- It doesn't) I finally couldn't handle it Friday, and the tears came out. If you know someone who suffers from depression remember it's not something that goes away, and it eats at us everyday. Whether we show it or not.

Keeping you posted: The week my tire was flat!

Real Life Happenings
Is it me or does anyone else have extremely bad luck with car tires? I'm serious I'm like a magnet for flat tires. So Thursday I go to work, and while I'm driving I somewhat think to myself "the car is not driving right" when I get to work I check my tires (because I know my luck), and low and behold my tire was low. I was thinking okay I get off at a decent hour so I can go air it up at the gas station and go home and see what the hubby says. So much for thinking everything would round itself out. When I got out of work to go do this I found out the tire was nowhere near drivable. I'm serious I could drive it even over next door basically to air it up. (I showed a co-worker and they told me I was stupid if I tried.) Then we asked my Manager to check it out, and he said I shouldn't either so luckily where I work we have this stuff called Fix-a-flat and my boss I guess got me it, and used it where I could at least take it to a tire place and have it checked out. This whole time I'm trying to call my lovely hubby who doesn't answer. (I love him to death, but at this point I was a but frustrated with him.) When I finally got around to going to the tire place (Pep Boys they were really sweet.) I ended having them plug it (or something) and check it twice to make sure it wasn't going to need anything more. (Finally after an hour and a half the hubby calls. Nice timing and everything..grrr) They said that the tire had a shard of glass in it......A SHARD OF GLASS. Who gets a shard of glass stuck in the tire? I was waiting for them to say a nail or screw. I'm just like really FML! That was my Thursday.

Keeping you posted: A monthly giveaway in the works and more

  1. I've been thinking about how I can give back to my readers, and I realized I usually do one of the Kindle Deals monthly. I figure that I can do a small giveaway a month with the Kindle Deals post. I'll be making a post later with more detail
  2. Reverse Thursday- Is a meme I want to try and do here every Thursday where we highlight older books we want or want to read. It's sort of like a WOW in reverse. I'm not sure if there is something out in the bookish community like this, but yea? or no? I'll make a post about it Monday and then maybe actually give it a go on Thursday.
  3. I have one review I need to get posted for Uninvited by Sophie Jordan
  4. I'm almost through reading The Young Elites and I'm enjoying.
  5. I'm not even half way through with The Murder Complex and wow I love it. It's pretty bloody already but good.
  6. I've started a Wordpress Site: A Kindle by Any Other Name and it's dedicated to my kindles and the books on there and the sites used for E-readers like Edelweiss and Netgalley. It's a way for me to keep up with those books because so many times I forget.
