Reading Challenge: Netgalley and Edelweiss

Hosted by Falling for YA
Oh the dreaded Netgalley and Edelweiss books.
I swear these two sites (plus Amazon and their one click shopping) keep my little kindle fire full of things to read so much so that I tend to keep on adding instead of trying to read them. Maybe, this year will be different, and I'll actually get some kindle time. Maybe.

Reading Guidelines

  • The challenge will run from Jan 1, 2015 – Dec 31, 2015.
  • Anyone is welcome to join. You do not need to be a blogger, just post your reviews and come back every month to link them up.
  • Any genre, release date, request date, length, etc. counts so long as it came from Edelweiss or Netgalley.
  • At the beginning of each month there will be a roundup post for you to add your reviews.
  • If you forget to link up one month it's not a problem just add your reviews next month.
  • If you would like to move up or down levels that is completely fine and at your discretion.

My Goals

My goal is to read at least 10 of them, and it shouldn't be to hard because I have some of them on other challenges as well. The will be linked to their reviews.

To Read
Side effects may vary by Julie Murphy
Kissing In America by Margo Robb
Inspire by Cora Carmack

Finished
Uninvited by Sophie Jordan
The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
Vanished by E.E Cooper

Reading Challenge: 2015 Alphabet Soup

Reading Guidelines
  • This challenge will run from January 1st, 2014 until December 31st, 2014.
  • You can join anytime. You do not have to review the book. Books can come from any genre.
  • You do not need to link up each spoonful.
  • Make a page or a post or a GoodReads shelf where you will keep track of your spoonfuls. I keep track of mine on my Challenge Page.
  • Crossovers to other challenges are allowed and encouraged!
  • It’s an alphabet challenge!!! The challenge is to read one book that has a title starting with every letter of the alphabet.
  • You can drop the A’s and The’s from the book titles as shown below. For those pesky Q, X AND Z titles the word with the challenge letter can be anywhere in the title.
  • So there are two different ways you can set up your own A-Z Reading Challenge.
  • A – How I plan to do it: Make a list on your blog from A-Z. Throughout the year, as you go along, add the books you are reading to the list. Towards the end of the year, you can check and see which letters you are missing and find books to fit.
  • OR
  • B – Make a list now of 26 books, picking one for each letter of the alphabet. For example:A – All the President’s Menus by Julie Hyzy  B- Bushel Full of Murder by Paige Shelton  C – Criminal Confections by Collette London  D – Dark Chocolate Demise by Jenn McKinlayetc.
  • Books can be read in any order and all formats – print – e-book – audio – are acceptable for this challenge!

Bookish Things

Where do all the bookish things go that are not reviews?

Books read in... is basically where I show you what books I've read over the years starting with 2010. Anything before 2010 is in one category.

Book Subscription boxes are all the craze. Here are some of the ones I'm signed up for.

Ever see those awesome countdowns on peoples side bars? Well here is where I will put up a few every month.

In the book world things are always changing for better or worse.
One of those changes are the book covers. We usually see those changes made from the hardcover book to it's paperback partner or even from the US cover to another countries cover. Sometimes those changes bring out the awesome-can-I-hang-this-on-my-wall to I'm-going-switzerland-on-this to the dreaded-what-the-bleeping-hell-were-they-thinking reactions in us.

From Quotes about books to quotes in books to anything bookish related.

Sometimes we love and sometimes we hate them either way they catch our attention. Here's where I will be doing cover reveals.

I'm not a huge fan of book trailers, but there are a rare few that will catch my attention. I think it's those that come close to looking like a real movie could be made from it.

This section is broken down into different types of bookish articles I have lists made by others regarding books, articles from news websites, and then just fun articles.

As readers we want to see our favorite books come to life on the big screen. Sometimes that can be an awesome thing and other times we rather keep that image of what we think it should look like. Either way though when that book does hit the screen you can bet we'd be the first ones to see it.

Every end of the year I sign up for the following years challenges, and I never seem to stay on track with them. I mean I'm sure if I did I'd have a lot of my books read. (which is sort of the point in doing these) yet I'm quick to let them go. Here are ones I've done in the past (or tried to do).

Are you new to the book blogging community? Are you flustered with all the different abbreviations and lingo being used? Look no further! I'm going to try and be as helpful as I can.

2013 Sequel challenge

I don't know about you guys, but I'm horrible at reading the first book in a series and then thinking I can't wait to read the second and so on and then never getting to it. So here is what I'm doing to fix that. :)

Here are just a few of the series I've started, and I'm a little behind on that will be getting my attention in 2013.

1. Shiver, Linger, and Forever: I've only read the first book and I'm not sure why. I adored the characters in shiver.
2. Halo, Hades: I read Halo and was kind of iffy on it so I never read Hades.
3. The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay: Okay...okay...I read the first two but still haven't read Mockingjay.
4. Firelight, Vanish, Hidden: Again, I wasn't thrilled with Firelight so I was reluctant to start Vanish, but maybe it redeem itself.
5. Wake, Fade, and Gone: I only read Wake and I think it was the way it was written that turned me off, but it was an interesting storyline.
6. Hush Hush, Crescendo, Silence, Finale: I read the first two and just haven't gotten to the others. I actually need to get Finale.
7. Unearthly,Hallowed- I read Unearthly and enjoyed it now I think its time to read the second one.
8. Nightshade, Wolfsbane, and Bloodrose: I recently just finished Wolfsbane so one more book in this series and I'm done.
9. Radiance, Shimmer, and Dreamland: I've read the first and it was a cute little story. The books themselves are not all that long so they should be easy to read.
10. The unbecoming of Mara Dyer and the Evolution of Mara Dyer: I really did love the first book with all it's creepiness and of course Noah Shaw, but I haven't even bought the second book which I need to do.

I'm sure those aren't all of them, but it's the ones I could think of off the top of my head. Some might get read while I might add others as they come to mind.
