Hi everybody! How's everyone's week been going?
If you want to see all the other top ten post head on over to The Broke and the Bookish.
Todays topic:
Hyped books I never read
1. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I know..I know I need to get on this, but I'm afraid to read it and not enjoy it.
Is this worth the hype?
2. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
I'm not to behind on this one since it just recently came out. I might actually wait closer to when the second will be released.
Is this worth the hype?
3. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I just recently purchased the last book in the series so now I have no reason to not read them all straight through.
I just recently purchased the last book in the series so now I have no reason to not read them all straight through.
Is this worth the hype?
4.The Maze Runner by James Dashner
I meant to read this before the movie had come out, but didn't get to it in time. I finally watched the movie a few months back, and now I might read the series.
Is this worth the hype?
5. The Book Thief by Markus Zakuso
I know when the movie came out it was kinda hyped up, and at one point I wanted to read it. Now I'm not sure. I still haven't seen the movie either. So should I read it and then watch the movie, or what?
Is this worth the hype?
6. The Giver by Lois Lowry
I actually bought this book for my kindle when it was on sale, and was going to read it before I watched the movie. I didn't do that instead I went ahead and watched the movie first which really didn't hold my attention all that great.
Is this worth the hype?
7. The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
I bought this on my kindle and still have yet to get around to it. -shrugs-
Is this worth the hype?
8. The Selection by Kiera Cass
This was a toss up so many people loved it and then so many hated it so I'm honestly not sure how I feel about reading it. I have the first on my kindle and the other two I bought at a signing I went to of hers.
Is this worth the hype?
9. The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
I feel ashamed to even say anything for this one. I've been trying since this book came out to read it, but I never have finished it. Someone tell me that it gets better because I only got like 60 pages in.
Is this worth the hype?
10. The Lord of the rings by J.R.R Tolkien
I'm speechless really. I've just honestly never really cared for the books (or movies)
Is this worth the hype?
Runner-ups
1984 by George Orwell
This is definitely an older one. I purchased it a few months back as well, and thought I would give it a try.
Is this worth the hype?
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Not big on fantasy, but I hear the MC is kick ass, and I love good characters.
Is this worth the hype?
Of course there are SOOOOOOO many others that are all hyped up that I've yet to read, but these were the ones that came to mind first.
Tell me what are some of yours?
Cinder made my list too! I just feel like the hype is too huge to jump into that series right now. The Winner's Curse and The Book Thief are both great reads- I highly recommend them!
ReplyDeleteMallory @ The Local Muse
1, 3-6 are most definitely worth the hype. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT and my current giveaway.
I think The Book Thief is definitely one to read. It's so unique!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT!
The Book Thief and An Ember in the Ashes is a must read! (I'm biased because I loved those two!)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Oh my goodness The Winner's Curse is AMAZING! I waited ages to read it because of the hype but it totally lived up to it all :)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT!
The Book Thief and The Maze Runner I enjoyed! :D I bought Cinder last month and I am desperate to start it :') Good picks here! Here's my TTT if you would like to check it out :-) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWill do.
DeleteThe Giver and The Maze Runner are on my list too!
ReplyDeleteI've read The Book Thief and would definitely recommend it. and The Selection is good too :)
My TTT: https://thebookbrief.wordpress.com/2015/07/07/top-ten-tuesday-hyped-books-ive-never-read/
I'll probably eventually read the selection, and as for the other I might.
DeleteThe Maze Runner is on my TTT list this week too! I somehow just never got around to it. I haven't seen the movie, and I haven't head much about it... is it any good?
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed the movie therefore I think it sparked my interest to read the book and sequels.
DeleteSince you asked about Cinder - I do think it's worth the hype. But you have to be a fan of sf and fairy tales for it to be worth it. If you're not into genre, you probably won't. Personally, I loved how the fairy tale elements were shown throughout the book.
ReplyDeleteAs for LotR - this is one of the few I feel the movies are better. And if those didn't do it for you, you can safely pass. Though I'd still push for you to pick up the Hobbit.
I love fairytale retellings, and as for the sci fi part it really depends. So it's safe to say that maybe I should read that one.
DeleteAs for LotR I tried watching the movie, and I couldn't get into it.
I still need to read The Giver and The Forest of Hands and Teeth as well! LotR is SO intimidating!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't for the life of me get through TFoHaT
DeleteCinder and the Lunar Chronicles are soooo good!!! One of favorite series!!! I highly recommend!
ReplyDeleteBook Thief made my list as well :)
I can't believe I forgot about the Giver on my Top 10 list!!! I've been wanting to read it for so long!!
Lord of the Rings: From someone who loves the movies, the books I didn't feel were worth the read. To some die hard fans maybe, but if you don't like the movies much, maybe pass on them.
It seems I'll have to move THe Lunar CHronicles up on my list.
DeleteI really liked An Ember in the Ashes and would definitely recommend it. I also really liked The Book Thief but I haven't seen the movie yet. I loved The Winner's Curse too!
ReplyDelete-- Nicola Reads YA
We honestly basically have the same list!! There are just so many books we NEED to read :D
