Waiting on Wed: PODs by Michelle K. Pickett

Waiting on Wed is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
It's something that she does every Wed where we pick a book that hasn't been released yet.

AUTHOR: Michelle Pickett
EXPECTED PUBLICATION: June 4th, 2013
PUBLISHER: Spencer Hill Press
OUTLINE:
Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptoms emerging. In the POD system, a series of underground habitats built by the government, she waits with the other chosen for the deadly virus to claim those above. Separated from family and friends, it’s in the PODs she meets David. And while true love might not conquer all, it’s a balm for the broken soul.

After a year, scientists believe the population has died, and without living hosts, so has the virus. That’s the theory, anyway. But when the PODs are opened, survivors find the surface holds a vicious secret. The virus mutated, infecting those left top-side and creating... monsters.

Eva and David hide from the infected in the abandoned PODs. Together they try to build a life--a new beginning. But the infected follow and are relentless in their attacks. Leaving Eva and David to fight for survival, and pray for a cure.

Why I chose this:
Spencer Hill Press always seems to have really good stories. This one definitely is no different. It just sounds really interesting to me. Sorry I'm not more explanatory.

What are you waiting on this week?

  1. It sounds interesting. I like the idea as long as the book starts out with them leaving the PODS. I think I have heard a lot of good things about Spencer Hills Press, but I can't remember if if read anything from them or not. Anyways, I just posted my WOW if you want to see what I'm waiting for too: http://oneadayya.blogspot.ca/2012/07/waiting-on-wednesday_11.html

  4. POD's sounds really good. I think the only books I've read from Spencer Hill are Jennifer L. Armentrout and they totally rocked, so that's a good sign! I must say that this sounds a little like Enclave by Ann Aguirre so I'm curious to read more!
