Dystopian Reading Challenge

I've been kind of a slacker lately when it comes to reading, reviewing, and doing anything in general on my site because of the move and wanting to spend time with my boyfriend (I guess I can call him my fiance now) so I didn't really sign up for anything except the 2012 debut author challenge.

Now that I'm a little more settled in I figure I'll be reading more while he plays his video games (his cousin came to visit us this week, and has totally spoiled him. I kid you not he bought him the new batman game for Xbox which they've been playing all day, some really old valuable sport figurines.)

I have a list of Dystopian books that I want to read and don't have which will be bold and the ones that I have that I'm going to try and read in italics and the ones I've read will be marked out:

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Under the never sky by Veronica Rossi
Article 5 by Kirsten Simmons
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
Struck by Jennifer Bosworth
Wither by Lauren Destefano
Fever by Lauren Destefano
Mockingjay
by Suzanne Collins
Partials by Dan Wells
Fast-Track by Tracey Roszzlynn
Starters by Lissa Price

These are the reading levels they had to choose from- I guess I choose Contagion for now
Reading Levels:
1. Propaganda – Choose 6 books to read
2. Contagion – Choose 12 books to read
3. Oppressed – Choose 18 books to read
4. Liberated – Choose 24 books to read
5. Totalitarian – Choose 30+ books to read

UPDATES:
5-31-12: So to start off the challenge I'll be reviewing Insurgent sometime soon. I just finished it today.

Book review: Turned by Morgan Rice

AUTHOR: Morgan Rice
PUBLISHER: Self Published
PAGES: 150
SOURCE: Amazon ebook

OUTLINE:
Eighteen year old Caitlin Paine finds herself uprooted from her nice suburb and forced to attend a dangerous New York City high school when her Mom moves again. The one ray of light in her new surroundings is Jonah, a new classmate who takes an instant liking to her.

But before their romance can blossom, Caitlin suddenly finds herself changing. She is overcome by a superhuman strength, a sensitivity to light, a desire to feed--by feelings she does not understand. She seeks answers to what’s happening to her, and her cravings lead her to the wrong place at the wrong time. Her eyes are opened to a hidden world, right beneath her feet, thriving underground in New York City. She finds herself caught between two dangerous covens, right in the middle of a vampire war.

MY THOUGHTS:
It's hard to say what I liked about this book really. It's starting to get to the point for me where if it's going to be a vampire story it better have some distinct characters and storyline, or it probably won't stick out in my mind as being any good. Maybe, it was just the timing for me, or I just didn't put much thought into what I was reading at the time. I'll admit I actually read this on my android while spending time at my boyfriends house. That could be another reason. No matter the reason though I wasn't to "OMG I have to finish this now." You could pretty much guess the things that were going to happen, and I didn't care to much for the characters. Even though I wasn't thrilled with it sometime down the road I might end end up reading the others in the series just to see where it goes.

I know this was a bit short, but like I said I didn't enjoy like I wanted to.

Waiting on Wed: What's left of me by Kat Shang

So what am I waiting on this week...
What's left of me by Kat Shang
Expected publication: September 18th 2012 by Harper

Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t…

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable–hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet…for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.

(US summary)

Why I'm waiting on this:
I'm a sucker for pretty covers and one's that are interesting and can catch my attention. This one did just that, and then I read the summary and it captured me. Two souls in one body?

Waiting on Wed: Auracle by Gina Rosati

Waiting on Wed is hosted by Jill over at Breaking The Spine
So what am I waiting on this week...
Auracle by Gina Rosati
Expected publication: August 7th 2012 by Roaring Brook Press

16 year old Anna Rogan has a secret she's only shared with her best friend, Rei; she can astrally project out of her body, allowing her spirit to explore the world and the far reaches of the universe.

When there's a fatal accident and her classmate Taylor takes over Anna's body, what was an exhilarating distraction from her repressive home life threatens to become a permanent state. Faced with a future trapped in another dimension, Anna turns to Rei for help. Now the two of them must find a way to get Anna back into her body and stop Taylor from accusing an innocent friend of murder. Together Anna and Rei form a plan but it doesn't take into account the deeper feelings that are beginning to grow between them

Why am I waiting on this?
Did you see the cover it's so pretty. :) I also like the description to the book it's kinda ghostly/possession-y. I always find ghost and possession stories fun to read. I have a weird brain I know.

Getting married!

(<---Ryan and I at a Texas Ranger game)
I know this isn't the place to put this, but most everyone doesn't read my personal blog so I figured I'd leave a little message on here. So yeah...you read right I'm getting married. :) Ryan asked me last night. I was pretty much speechless. I knew at some point he probably would just because of the way he's been talking, but I didn't think it would be soon. I started crying, seriously I'm a baby when it comes to things, and he pretty much made my night asking that. I'm the type of person who always thought I'd be alone forever, and to know that something like this happened to me. I don't know it just didn't seem real. He hasn't actually gotten me a ring yet because we're a little broke from moving, but supposely his mom has one and was gonna give it to him so he could give it to me as a sort of promise ring until he could actually get me one. It probably won't happen until next year, but I'm so excited.

Oh and here's a little video of our new apt it's still kind of messy, but it's a work in progress. :)

That's all! :)

What I've been up to since I haven't been on here

Hey my lovely bloggers/readers! Sorry I haven't been around much lately I've just been busy with crap at work, hanging out with Ryan, and trying to get things ready to move into my new apartment. Which I'm now officially in! I haven't really done many reviews the past couple of months which I'm hitting myself over because it is after all a book review site. I have been reading still not as much as I would like to, but now that I'm settle in, and not spending all my time at Ryan's place (since we live together now) and all my books are out of storage I can read a bit more.

Some of the books I've read but not reviewed are Wither by Lauren DeStefano, The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, Half-blood by Jennifer Armentrout, Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder, All Hallows Eve by S.M Reine.

The Ones I'm reading now are Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins, Fast-Tracked by ? and Matched by Ally Condie.

What I plan on reading next would be The Goddess Test and Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter and Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

I'm still going to see if I can have the giveaway for The Immortal Rules and possibly Goddess Interrupted.

That's about all with my bookish life.

Below will be a video I did that pretty much states what I said above just a little differently. :)

Top Ten Tuesday: I like these quotes and I can not lie

Top Ten Tuesday
is hosted by the girls over at The Broke and The Bookish.
I haven't really participated in this lately or anything for the matter because I've been in the process of moving and hanging out with the boyfriend so I've been neglecting my site, but now I'm all moved and I'll try to get back to regular programming.

This weeks topic is:
Top Ten Favorite Quotes From Books
I absolutely love this topic because when I first started reading I would have a piece of paper and my pen by me and every quote I liked I would write down. Vampire Academy and the Twilight books are two series that I have tons of quotes from, but for the sake of this I'll try and go through my reviews and find the ones I liked most.

1. Always a witch--Yes, I'll live or Yes the second cake she just ate is okay. Kind of important to be specific here. (Gabriel to Tamsins mom)
2.Anna dressed in Blood-Yes, smashing you'll be just like those four chaps in the movie. You know the one, with the over-sized marshmallow. (Gideon)
-You've got to be kidding me. (Cas)

3. Bloodlines- -Also, I didn't trust any guy who used more styling products then I did. (Sydney)

4. The Body Finder--What are you doing here? (Violet)
I couldn't sleep . What about you? (Jay)
She opted for the obvious and filled her voice with as much sarcasm as she could. I live here actually. (Violet)
Ha-ha smart-ass. I was asking if maybe you couldn't sleep too. (Jay)
5. Fixing Delilah-How easily somethings can be broken for good and for bad, and how somethings, no matter how shattered, can still go back together. (Delilah's toughts on a glass cow that she broke)

-True friendship is never perfect, but it is important.
6. Hex Hall- "Sopie Mercer," Elodie intoned, "we have come to induct you into our sisterhood. Say the five word to begin the ritual."(Elodie) "Are you freaking kidding me?" (Sophie)
"No the five words are "I accept your offer, sisters." (Anna)
7.Hex Hall- Or maybe they were staring at me as I tried to descreetly wipe sweat away from between my breasts with-out appearing to get to second base with myself. (Sophie)

8. Paranormalcy- We spent the rest of the morning conjugating. (a word that sounds dirty but is in fact boring)-Evie

9.Vampire Academy-Forcing 5 year olds to spell Vasilisa Dragomir and Rosemarie Hathaway was beyond cruel and we'd, I'd rather responded appropriately. I chucked my book at our teacher and called her a fascist bastard. I hadn't known what those words meant, but I known how to hit a moving target. (Rose)

10. I'd tell you I'd love you, but then I'd have to kill you- -Where are we putting paper towels again? (Bex)
Depends. What's on it? (Liz)
Spaghetti Sauce ...I think or blood? (Bex)
So either they love pasta or are a family of axe murders? (Cammie)

Waiting on Wed: Breathe by Sarah Crossan

WAITING ON WED
is hosted by Jill at Breaking the spine
Breathe by Sarah Crossan
Expected publication: October 2nd 2012 by Greenwillow

Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe . . .

The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.

ALINA
has been stealing for a long time. She’s a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she’s never been caught before. If she’s careful, it’ll be easy. If she’s careful.

QUINN
should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it’s also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn’t every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.

BEA
wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they’d planned a trip together, the two of them, and she’d hoped he’d discover her out here, not another girl.

And as they walk into the Outlands with two days’ worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?

Reason why it sounds good:
Did you read the synopsis? I mean it sounds interesting. I don't think I've read any dystopian like books about there being little oxygen. I don't think I've heard of any.
