Cover Wars: Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau-Preto

In the book world, things are always changing for better or worse.
One of those changes is the book covers. We usually see those changes made from the hardcover book to its paperback partner or even from the US cover to another countries cover. Sometimes those changes bring out the awesome-can-I-hang-this-on-my-wall to I'm-going-switzerland-on-this to the dreaded-what-the-bleeping-hell-were-they-thinking reactions in us.

I don't know about you but the book covers are always the first thing I look at, and sometimes I want the books just because of the cover. I want that awesome-ness on my shelf. I'd be lying if I said I haven't bought the same book just because the cover was different.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books with Dual POVS

An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard
Sydney, Harper, Laurent, Grey, Ian
I just finished this book and while the chapters aren't broken down into the character POVs like all the other books are on the list  each break in the story is (if that makes sense)

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Tate and Miles
I absolutely adored both these characters and being able to go more into their stories with each of the POVs

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
Zoya and Nikolai
I loved Nikolai in the other books so I'm hoping I love him, even more, when I read this.

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings
Andi, Kalren, Valen, Lira, Nor, Dex
Still, need to read this and see what the fuss is about good and bad.

An Ember in the Ashes by Saaba Tahir
Laia and Elias
I remember enjoying this book when I read it

Crooked Kingdoms by Leigh Bardugo
Kaz, Inej, Nina, Mathias, Jesper
I read Six of Crows and while it was a bit slow at first I did end up enjoying the cast of characters. So I'm looking forward to reading this.

Take Me On by Katie McGarry
Hayley and West
I always love Katie's books so I'm sure once I get around to this one I'll enjoy it.

The Fates Divided by Veronica Roth
Akos, Cyra, Cisi
I know a ton of people didn't like Carve the mark, but I liked it.

Finale by Stephanie Garber
Donatella, Scarlet
I love everything about this series.

FuryBorn by Claire Legrand
Rielle and Eliana
I want to read this.

Book Talk: Shutter by Laurie Faria Stolarz

AUTHOR: Laurie Faria Stolarz
PUBLISHED: October 18th 2016
PUBLISHER: Disney-Hyperion
PAGES: 337
SERIES/STAND ALONE:Standalone
SOURCE: Book Box
CHALLENGES: None

OUTLINE:
Sixteen-year-old Day Connor views life through the lens of her camera, where perspective is everything. But photographs never tell the whole story. After Day crosses paths with Julian, the world she observes and the truths she believes—neatly captured in black and white—begin to blur.

Julian does not look like a murderer, but his story is full of holes, and his alibis don’t quite add up, either. This time, Day is determined to see the entire picture…whatever it reveals.

Did he kill his parents? Or didn’t he?

While Julian remains on the run, Day digs deeper into his case. But the more facts she uncovers, the longer her list of questions becomes. It’s also getting harder to deny the chemistry she feels with Julian.

Is it real? Or is she being manipulated?

Day is close to finding the crack in the case that will prove Julian’s innocence. She just needs time to focus before the shutter snaps shut.

My thoughts in bullets

  • I love the photography aspect in it
  • I love that both parents are present not together, but present in the child's life.
  • I love the thriller/mystery since we barely see it in YA
  • Day wants to see the good in every one
  • The ending didn't give me my fulfillment I was looking for

Book Talk: Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss by Kasie West

AUTHOR: Kasie West
PUBLISHED: February 5th 2019
PUBLISHER:  HarperTeen
PAGES: 384
SERIES/STAND ALONE: Standalone

SOURCE: won and arc

CHALLENGES: None

OUTLINE:
Lacey Barnes has dreamt of being in a movie for as long as she can remember. However, while her dream did include working alongside the hottest actor in Hollywood, it didn’t involve having to finish up her senior year of high school at the same time she was getting her big break. Although that is nothing compared to Donavan, the straight-laced student her father hires to tutor her, who is a full-on nightmare.

As Lacey struggles to juggle her burgeoning career, some on-set sabotage, and an off-screen romance with the unlikeliest of leading men, she quickly learns that sometimes the best stories happen when you go off script.

Video

  • I adored this book. The only reason it was 4 stars and not 5 is because I was all ready for a big reveal on who was sabotaging the set, and it didn't happen. I know this is mainly contemporary so I set myself up.
  • Loved Donovan
  • Lacey has all of her family. Mom/Dad/ Siblings
  • Loved the movie aspect (parts were scenes from the movie)
  • No love triangle with main characters
